The only way to get that golden roe for Psijic Ambrosia?
Ok, I'll bite. I understand thats one way to get people to fish in the game. Cool.
My question from the patch notes though, does it have to be a specific fish from a specific body of water? Or can it be from any fish from any body of water?
Maybe @ZOS_GinaBruno can offer some insight?

I was wondering the same thing, they never mentioned it, just said it comes from white fish.. they also didn't mention which white fish (since the name of the white fish is attached to the body of water it's found in..) I'm intrigued but doubt we will get an answer. Maybe in a couple days players will have some data together?

I understand it to be any White Fish. The Greens and Blues will still probably be best for selling for Gold.

We will have to wait to see if anyone filets a Green or Blue and gets Roe. Actually, can you filet a Green or Blue and get the Fish provisioning ingredient? I have never tried.

In case your wondering, you filet a fish by using it from your inventory.

It's the white fish you get while fishing (the green and blue don't do anything once you add them to your collection, so you can just sell those), you click them to skin them and have a chance to get the Roe. It's rare chance mind you, had a guildie go through three stacks of fish and get 8 roe from it.

It's the white fish. Any of the greens or blues that I caught this morning could only be sold.

Nope, when you "use" a green or blue it gets added to your achievements. Of course, it also gets added to your achievements as soon as you catch it, so this only works if you give those green or blue fish to an alt. Basically it means that each green or blue fish that you catch can count towards the achievements of 2 different characters.

    LOL,

I'm reading White Fish and thinking Cod versus Salmon!

Been playing this game too long already!

On another note, has anyone determined if saved Prov Urns have returned recipe parts or did they have to be created since patch?

Been trying to sell my bait, having to drop prices, and still not selling, until the first thing I see after logging in is my bait sold. Not only that, none of my guild stores had any substantial bail left to sell. Look for bait prices to sky-rocket. Worms will be worth a fortune. Guess there will be more Master Anglers soon, whether they want to be or not.

Yeah I had stopped keeping bait several months ago. Had to buy stock Sunday and bought every bit of bait that was below average I could find.

I want to go fishing again just for the accomplishment but if the RNG is as low as Nirncrux I'll debate selling some back if the market explodes.

Perfect Roe seems to be more common then I would expect, but I guess they will be come rare again in a few days.

ESO - Fishing - A More Integrated Approach

I like fishing. I liked it in WoW, I really liked it in LotRO, and I like it in ESO.

Its a great way to chill out, not bother about questing etc but still do something marginally productive with your game time.

There's one problem with fishing in ESO - its static; nothing really change except the bait you use. You don't get better at it the more you do it, you don't gain a slight edge by having better equipment, in fact every time you cast its like its the first time you've ever cast.

That's a great way to make a skill irrelevant in an MMO.

Now the new Ambrosia recipe with its need for Perfect Roe may make the skill more relevant, but it won't make it more enjoyable, and it won't make it less static.

    How to change that?

    1) Give Fishing its own skill line.

Every fish you catch gives some measure of XP, higher quality fish give higher XP, and if you catch all possible fish in a given zone you get a bonus.

    2) Fishing Passives

A- Improved Casting - reduces cast times and "time to bite" by 2%/5%/10%/20% at Skill Levels 2/7/12/17.

B- Lucky Angler - increases chances of getting a Gunny Sack AND loot quality from Gunny Sacks by 2%/5%/10%/20% at Skill Levels 3/8/13/18.

C- Professional Angler - increases chance of a Rare Catches by 2%/5%/10%/20% at Skill Levels 4/9/14/19.

D- Legendary Angler - adds chance to catch two things with one cast at 5%/15%/25%/40% at Skill Levels 5/10/15/20.

    3) Integrate Fishing With Other Skills

A- Woodworkers could craft Fishing Rods that gives a small bonuses to Fishing Skill and/or Fishing Passives.

B- Clothiers to tie specialist flies to give bonus to catch a certain specific species; ties to be same "colour quality" as the Fish Species.

C- Alchemists to craft "potions" to be thrown in to fishing holes to make them more productive.

D- Provisioners to craft bait for those species not covered by Clothier Flies.

    All The Best

Muahahahaha! 1% to 1.5% chance and I occasionally sell bait in my guildstores :D. I suspect that the average value of bait is going to rise :)
