Noob question -gold & crafting

Clu88er

Well I reached level 10 and still struggle to get close to 2000g I pick up pretty much everything and sell to the merchants and have been playing with deconstion and selling the ingots and also selling the weapons whole. Every time I get close to some descent coin, I end up blowing on having to repair my equipment!

In your opinion which is the best way to make some gold.... I'm not looking for a quick fix just a better flow of the yellow stuff then I currently have

Completing missions and writs give the best gold in the actual game. Then there's selling items in Guild Auctions, but that's if you have sought after items. (You can always sell in Zone Chat, if you're on PC.)

If I were you I'd stop selling items to merchants and join a guild. You can get more for your materials and crafted items there than at a merchant. Also, if you do choose to sell to other players/join a guild, the raw materials usually sell for more than the refined (iron ore instead of ingots).

Thanks for the advise. I'm part of the fighters guild but can't seem to be able to sell through the guild trader. Not sure how it works on the console and all links vids are based on PC.

I pretty mych a noob as ESO being my first Elder Scrolls experience.
But I would recommend NOT repairing your armor, its expensive.
I suggest you craft new armor. Its way cheaper and at the same time you would be leveling up your crafting skills

Not an NPC guild, a player guild. If it has 50 members or more, you will then be able to access its guild store at the bank.

Don't repair armor. As you noticed, it's expensive and it really isn't worth it at low levels when you outlevel everything so quickly and get new items all the time. I never repair anything during normal questing for characters under level 50.

    Now there's some useful info!

I'm in a guild with a few mates (5). Guess I'm going to have to break the news to them that I'm off!

How do you join a player guild?

Cheers for the advise so far

I leveled my last character from lvl 1 to vr14 with broken gear. Saved heaps of money on repairs. The content is so easy that you don't really need armor most of the time. For 1-50 I just replace my gear as I level, with random green/blue/purple gear I loot along the way. At vet levels every 4-5 levels I'd craft myself a set of green gear just for the set bonus (gear bonus works even if your gear is broken). Being able to craft your own gear will save you hassle and money.

A lot of guilds will have members willing to craft you basic gear for free or the cost of materials.

If you just want some money making advice, there's lots on the forums, here's one useful thread: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/163613/how-can-i-make-money-without-guild-stores/p1

There's a whole forum section for Guild Recruitment sorted by platform at the bottom of the main Forums page. I'm sure you'll find some dedicated Trade Guilds in there.

One thing to keep in mind. If your deconning things to gain Crafting (and you should) your going to be broke. However you can sell say half the loot you get ( and for sure the Ornate items which sell for more) and still gain crafting at a decent clip and have gold.

On the other hand, you don't really need gold in this game as everything you need can be found, so playing a poor character is not a terrible thing. Gold just lets you collect things without spending the time looking for them. To make that aspect easier, farm nodes as you go along from quest to quest and of course decon at least half your loot.

Roll a Mule for storage of your mats so you don't have to spend money on Bag Space. But, do get a horse and start up grading the Bag storage on the horse at 250 Gold a day. And, the first two character upgrades are 400 and 2000, so they are cheap too. Good idea to upgrade mules storage at least the first couple of steps too.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Here's my question. How do you learn traits in order to craft an item?...

This can be confusing, I agree. Wish the game explained it a little better and/or obvious distinction.

Fighters, Mage Guild are guilds, that is very true. But you need to reach level 10 and join a real people guild to sell items. But without reaching level 10 can not join.

    Hope this helps. : )

Level 10 is a requirement for creating a guild, you can join at any time.
