So I just got to 15 and have been dual wielding, what would be best backup weapons/skills? (Mainly just what's best backup weapon set)

A lot of Nightblades use Bows as a back up weapon set. It allows them to hit from a distance and then get up close to finish the kill.
Far too many characters to list any more.

I love my bow/dw NB. A bow would be really useful for ranged fights, or for taking out some health before coming in with dual wield for the kill.

The best back up epically if your a stamina build, the bow skill line is your best friend and will soften things up a lot for you. May even become your main weapon and your melee will just be for finishing things

Infinite load screen, you gotta kill the game and restart.

Yea, that's what I did. I do like the bow/dw combo. Should I just spec stamina each level then?

Best weapon is 2hand weapon because that will let you use one of the only stamina based heals in the game, you unlock it at 2hander level 38 its called momentum and it has a morph called rally which lets you heal even more, i suggest going dualwield/2hand or 2hand/bow. If you dont use rally you wont be able to heal yourself.

I run with a dual-bow combi on my main, found it quite useful for the "close combat / ranged" options. Usually run with the DW in PvE, and bow for PvP sniping... though that depends on the situation. Which is the basic idea of weapon swaps I guess - adjusting to different situations. Some mobs are easier to take down with ranged attacks, some enemies are better fought at close range...

Though its true that 2-handed is the best attack weapon right now, it has all the goodies - gap closer, shield-building attack, CC-attack, finisher, self-heal... though I'd never switch my main on that, I go with twin daggers for the fun I have playing the character like I envision her, and not for effectiveness...
Of course, I also have an alt for that ;) In fact, I have two alts who use big mauls/axes as their main weapons, found it very effective for both heavy armored templar and medium armored melee sorceror...

Sword and shield are more something for tanky playstyle... it might be viable for a nightblade if you want to try playing tanky, but... generally, that is not something stamina nightblades do well at... (magica NBs as saptank are a different story).

And mixing stamina and magica weapons... can be iffy, since one of them will be ineffective. Although, a somewhat balanced build nightblade -can- benefit from a resto staff to swap to gain some useful self-heals... but it will cost in general effectiveness...

Spec all attribute points into stamina.

DW/Bow is a great combo. You'll lack a heal - but can always used Funnel Health from the Siphoning line to give you a bit of HP. Once you learn to play the class with those weapons you shouldn't need much healing at all, as enemies will die very quickly. As for any content in which you need healing - you should have a healer in group.

In a PvP mindset 2H/Bow is a better combo due to the 2H skill line heal. As funnel health is Magicka based so your health return on the skill is basically worthless. Once you unlock Vigor from the Alliance War skill tree, a stamina heal, you can go to using whatever weaponry you would like. Unlocking Vigor is no easy feat though, it'll take months of grinding AP to obtain.

All in all anything in ESO is viable as long as you're not a "min/max" kind of player. If you are, take my advice and the advice of others in this thread and you should do just fine.

    Thanks a lot guys :)

And for my nightblade I think I'm gonna stay dw/bow. I'm going to make a dragon knight alt that'll be 2h/shield-1h maybe, call me old fashioned lol.
