Best class for an ORC

Hello! Im wanting to make an Orc cause theyre my favorite race, only problem is I dont know which class to make it. I already have an Imperial Templar, and was planning on making a Dunmer Dragonknight, which leaves sorcerer and Nightblade. Orc Sorcerer sounds fun but would it be viable in anything? Ive never seen an Orc sorcerer so wouldnt even know how to build it.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Orcs are currently soso in terms of racials, but ultimately they can be any class with any build if you really wanted. Ideally an Altmer or a Breton would make a better Magicka based Sorcerer as an Orc offers no real racials that would benefit a Magicka based build. Most classes tend to have a general meta, so it's more missing out on the 10% Magicka that an Altmer and Breton get.

I LOVE Orc with a passion....

But they have the WORST racials in the entire game. I "might" put them on the same level as Argonian. The only role for Orcs is a tank. And I wouldn't suggest anything outside of a DK. There are not many options for Orc.

Hopefully this will get changed soon.

HOWEVER....if you are just rolling the race you like and don't care about racials at all...I'd go Orc Templar or Sorcerer....you rarely see those.

A ranged Orc sorcerer....might be viable in PvP since you have increased speed.

Orc Racials favour Tank builds in the current archetype system ZOS is using -- they are Daggerfall's tank race.
    Warrior/Tank races:
    Orc/Khajiit/Nord

    Mage/Caster races:
    Breton/Altmer/Dunmer

    Thief/Rogue races:
    Redguard/Bosmer/Argonian

With that said, Orc in particular favours a Stamina tank which is, unfortunately for you, kind of best represented in Dragonknight or Templar.

    Considerations for Nightblade:
Strong Stamina management but poor health management; you'll be able to do decent damage if you go for a Stamina build DPS especially if you choose Two Handed and Critical Rush.
If you choose to tank, Nightblade's Stamina management will go well with Orc's natural Health management.

    Considerations for Sorcerer
Sorcerer has the highest potential stack for Health Regeneration (aside from a Dragonknight with a full Draconic Power bar) when stacked with Orc/Khajiit/Nord -- 30% from Racial + 20% from Class passive + 20% from potion.
Sorcerer does not have great Stamina synergy or Stamina management.
There is no really ideal to build for a damage build as an Orc Sorcerer compared to a Nightblade. You can still go Two-Handed and focus on Critical Rush, but the rest of the Class Stamina synergy is rather subpar.

ZOS has said they will be improving Stamina Sorcerer's in the future, but you may not want to pin a character creation now on the hopes and dreams of tomorrow.

Best thing you can do with an orc is to become a nb and carry scrolls in pvp. Noone can run faster than an orc in full medium armour with a bow.

Whoever said one can use each class only once? Play what you like for your orc, the point here is to have fun! And most combinations can be made effective, if you play to their strengths...

Orcs do well with heavy armor, and lorewise they like brutal and in your face kind of battles... which suggests stamina builds...

So, my orcess alt went for that, heavy plate, big two-handed club, health and stamina, some magica to fuel her templar abilities (with 2H and a heal slotted, you get almost as good as a dragonknight in terms of survivability). Charge the mobs, and hit them with your maul until they stop moving. Then his them some more, just to make sure! ;)

Dual wierlding orc berserkers might work nicely as well, though those might want an class with a gap closer, since dual wield has none, nightblade or templar. Just remember, sneaking if for weaklings, true orcs like to have their enemies see them coming, savoring the funny expressions on their faces and the sour smell of their stained breeches...

Shields and heavy armor make for good tanks, which orcs excel at, though as has been mentioned, dragonknight gives the best synergy with that setup. Templar second best. Sorceror and nightblade... not so much, but still works.

Orcs are not so great as magica builds - still doable, just not so great. But you can play every class as stamina build, yes, even sorcerors, maybe not quite as good as some other combinations, but good enough to get through all of the game and have fun doing it. (sez the one with a nord berserker thunder priest alt)

One thing to consider is that the spear charge attack does take advantage of the sprint bonus to charging damage. Its the only class ability that does so. That being said I think Nightblade or Dragonknight are very good options for an Orc. The only real synergy with Sorcerer is if you go the tank path, which I could see working. Health regen bonus from using Hardened Ward (tank ability based off of summoning skill line) stacked with innate health regen is probably not so bad. You could use boundless storm to draw aoe agro, and keep damage going. One nice thing about both of these abilities is that they last really long, which is something a lot of the tank abilities from other class lines don't do as well. I'd say if you really want an Orc Sorcerer Tank you could make it work well enough, although I wouldn't claim its optimal.

Just bear in mind if you want to use a charge not based on the 2hander or Shield skill line, the only class that can take advantage of that is Templar. This allows you to do something weird like charge someone while in Dual Wield for instance, with the bonus damage from being an Orc. I doubt this is really that important, though.

Saying he can get through the game as an Orc sorcerer is a stretch....I wouldn't get the kids hopes up. You realize as an Orc sourcerer he'll get kicked out of 100% of the groups he joins in end game?

I can't see an Orc being anything other than a dragonkight tank. Kind of like a Nord. They aren't flexible.

Well depends on your definition of flexible....

I mean they can out sprint every race like a cheetah ...while wearing full plate armor and with a bulky build............which to this day makes no sense to me...

they can be decent at everything stamina based, and their racials arent so bad... but swift isnt fit for an orc in heavy armor... i would like to see some enrage type of skill , like lower hp more dmg <50% hp 5% more dmg , thats a passive for an mad orc, hulk type... if orcs have his voice then maybe they should get a bit of his anger as well.

By flexible I meant they lack overlapping qualities for multiple builds like from nightblades to dragonkights or sorcerer to templar and vise versa. Heavy armor imo looks the best in the game. I would wear medium but heavy just looks too good.

I'm happy as a dk tank orc. I regret the racial choice despite liking the orc look because the passives are so bad.

This. When i think of a Orc i think of a Enraged bloodthirsty warmongering beast i like the idea of a enrage racial but i would have it as a Chance on hit to activate so its viable in both PvP and PvE. or mayb a Bloodlust racial Doing X% damage to a enemy below 35% hp
