Where's my motif?!

I bought a motif for about 4k from black market trader... But I don't see it anywhere and can't craft the item. What's the deal?

You need to either switch zones (anywhere where you get a loading screen) or log out and back in. Anything you buy from a guild store will arrive in your in-game mail and in order to trigger a mail check, you need to go through a loading screen.

Hmmm idk.. I could have sworn I bought the khajiit motif, but the only thing that popped up in my inventory after logging out was the rings of Mara which I know I didn't buy...

Blue motifs are going for 4k? Wow. I don't remember the PC launch prices, but it's still impressive.

@Rosveen about a month in they were going for 1-1.5k IIRC

Blue motifs were never that pricey on the PC. Even in the height of the motif sales. Most I recall were about 1k. As for the mail thing, they will eventually hit your inbox if you don't hit a loading screen, but it takes awhile.

You need to look in your mailbox first, not in your inventory screen. You should get a mail and will need to take the attachment before it appears in your inventory

I did that. Opened it and Nada.. Go to a crafting station and nothing. Thinking I effed up or I was duped! Lol

You get items that you buy in the mail, and in order to force a mail system update you need to log out/back in or change zones with a wayshrine.

For probably the first week or two after PC launch they were going for about 3-5K. Frankly the prices shouldn't be nearly as high for console launch as they were for PC launch, though, because the supply should be somewhat higher (because you just know a bunch of people who transferred from PC to console brought motifs over with them to sell), and because there are actually guild kiosks now, so it's easier to shop around for what you're looking for.

This may sound dumb, Im new to EOSTU , what are these Motifs you keep referring to?

You use motifs to learn how to craft in different racial styles. Say you are an altmer.. When you start you can only craft altmer armor. If you find the orc motif and use it, you will now be able to craft orc armor. All it does is change what the armor looks like, does not change the stats at all.

Worth noting you also need a style stone for whatever style you are crafting. If you want to learn more @DarthForsberg look in my forum signature for a link to video beginner guides. I explain crafting in general, plus each craft more specifically.
