Research vs deconstruction

The 6 hour research period is really bothering me because i end up holding onto things that i want to research after. Is it worth it to do this or should i just research one thing and deconstruct the rest?

Keep only few items waiting. Excluding nirnhoned, all traits are easily available. If you have a trait item it is very probable you get it again soon. It is common practice in guilds to pass on traits for free,or available in guild stores fow few hundred gold.

BTW the research time doubles after each research for one item type. The first trait for sword is 6 hours. Next is 12 hours and so on. Research passives speed it up slightly and allow parallel research.

Just wait, pardon the Pun, until you start researching the 4, 5 6 etc traits. Those takes days. Then it starts taking weeks for 7, 8 and 9.

You can buy traited items for research in Guild Kiosks, so that is a good way to store them. It matters not the quality or the level, just the trait as far as research goes.

Also, some of the npc vendors for armor/weapons sell items with traits you can use for research

True, but it can be a crap shoot if you buy the "obscure armor" or similar container. You don't know what your going to get. Some vendors sell the weapons/armor outright, so just be careful when your shopping.

Also, the Vendor sold items are expensive. Most items for research sell in the 100 to 500 gold range in the Guild Stores/Kiosks, and you should not spend more than that.

If you have multiple characters, have them research different traits. That way they can make the item on demand for your crafter to research later without using up your bank space. You might want to set up a spread sheet. Yes even if you stick to one character and use the guild stores, because you can't check what you know and shop at the same time.

Aye, I tend to forget how tight gold was in the beginning lol
