Sometimes it's so hard to find things it makes your head hurt. Spend more time in less populated areas and you'll find it much easier. As time progresses and people spread further across Tamriel. It will become easier.

After spending an hour and a half finding 2/3 corn flowers for the alchemy daily. Absurd. What a headache.

I'm giggling and I feel bad for doing so.

Alchemy is one of the easiest things to level. Don't worry about running around looking to find plants. Just explore/quest do what you would normally do and you'll be able to find enough stuff for dailies and crafting. Running around for a specific reagent for Alchemy would drive me nuts.

    There's an "Alchemy Daily"?

Where's this. I'd love to be able to craft potions but at level 5, despite joining the Mage's Guild there doesn't even seem to be an option to "consume" the ingredients to learn their properties.

The best thing to do at lower levels is just collect materials as you see them. Concentrate on questing until your in the low 20's and by then you should have some decent materials to use. You can also sell those materials if your not using them for some pretty good gold.

You have to do the writ certification quest to be able to do the dailies, there should be a bulletin board in your starting town that gives it. If you go to the ingredient and hit the options button, triangle on ps4 and I believe y on Xbox, it should give the option to useand let's you consume it

You'll enjoy crafting writs a lot more if you just collect all the crafting mats you can as you're adventuring normally, and only bother with doing a writ if you already have the mats to complete it.

So just play normally and grab whatever mats you come across. Pick up the writs each day, check to see if you have the materials you need to complete each writ, and simply abandon the ones that you don't have the mats for. Complete the writs that you already have the mats for. Next day do the same thing.

Don't waste your time trying to find some specific mats (or a specific recipe) for one particular writ. that will just frustrate you (as you've already discovered).

You will not see the certification quests until you're level 6.

Agreed. I started doing writs when I already had a bank full of stacks of mats, then it was a breeze. Of course, I looked for missing recipes in the meantime, but I didn't focus on it.

In order to do the daily crafting writs you need to first become certified in the appropriate profession (there are 6 crafting professions). To become certified you have to be level 6, but you don't have to already have any skill in the profession.

If you're at least level 6 there's an NPC in the Fighters Guild who will give you quests to certify you in the equipment crafting skills (blacksmithing, clothing, and woodworking), and an NPC in the Mages Guild who will give you quests to certify you in the consumables crafting skills (alchemy, enchanting, and provisioning). The certification quests walk you through just about everything you need to know for that crafting skill, as well as giving you some XP, some gold, some crafting-specific rewards, and some inspiration in that crafting skill line to level it up a bit.

Once you've completed those certification quests (and it's worth doing all of them, even if you don't immediately plan on starting to level that particular crafting skill), every day you'll be able to pick up crafting writs from one of two bulletin boards in each major city (one writ per profession per day - not one writ per day for each city). If you're doing daily writs, be a bit careful about putting too many skill points into your crafting passives, as the place you'll have to go in order to turn in a writ depends on the level of items you are capable of crafting. So if you're a level 10 character, but you're capable of crafting level 40 potions, you're going to have to go to the level 40 zone in order to turn in your writs, which can be both difficult and dangerous...

When crafting writs were first introduced there was no minimum level - they changed that at some point before 1.6 though. I've never been clear on why they changed it to be honest. I mean, the certification quests are basically crafting tutorials. Why shouldn't you be able to do the tutorials right after completing the Coldharbour tutorial?

Thanks! I'll just quest and grab what I see. Good advice!

The Writ rewards give you Reagents. Pretty soon, you will have what you need for the Writs from those alone. But, the first few Writs are going to be a pain.

Note, some Reagents, like Mountain Flower and Columbine are hard to see. Keen Eye helps.

Mushrooms usually make poisons, but they are good for grinding up the skill. Just don't use Namira's Rot, that makes something useful. But all the other ones are great grind fodder. Mushrooms are usually near Trees, or walls or rocks.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The first rule of an MMO is, if your looking for it, you won't find it, ever. If you don't need it right now, you trip over it every time you turn around.

If you really HAVE to have some flowers NOW, get yourself to the Hollow City in Coldharbor and run the city. No enemies just have to get there when not full of other players.

I forget if there is a minimum char level to teleport to there but a friend or guild member can get you there.

Here is what I do, I farm for mats in an easy lower level zone, and then sell those mats for money to buy whatever I need from Guild Traders. I'm leveling Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking; my character is level 20 and all my crafts are also level 20. I will spend hours farming, refining, selling, then I buy the highest level gear with the "Intricate" trait and deconstruct it, which grants massive inspiration. The only reason I bother refining lower level mats anymore is because of the extra trait and improvement drops that I get.
