Q about buying a mount.

SirGreenDay
Is there any differences between the different mounts in the crown store?

I noticed that the prices vary greatly.

If there's no difference in stats etc, I'll just get the 900c mount.

All stats between all mounts are the same per character. As you level up the stat on one character, all mounts on that character gain the bonus.

No difference in stats, that is determined by your riders skill.

Exactly zero difference in stats. The only differences are cosmetic. If you don't care about the cosmetics, then don't waste your money on the expensive ones.

In fact, if all you care about is having a mount and you're not particular about how it looks, just buy one in-game at a stable for 10K gold. With the justice system even a super low level character can make that in just a couple of days by engaging in some careful thievery for an hour or so per day, and selling the stolen goods to a fence. that way you don't have to spend any real money on a mount.

Having said that, I'm one of the people to whom the cosmetics are important, so I've got a wide variety of different mounts - some bought with in-game gold, and some bought with Crowns. Each of my characters rides a different one.

So are stolen goods worth than 'regular' items?

What's the best places to steal from? Houses, people?

The quality of goods is determined by the people/place you steal them from. A castle or bank, will most likely have better goods than a poor farmer for example. For stolen goods that is.

Basically the stolen goods I'm talking about are loot whose only purpose is to be stolen and sold to fences. You'll find them in owned containers in towns, and you can also get them from picking pockets (but this is much riskier than stealing from containers).

The white ones are sold for 30 gold each, the green ones for 100 gold each, the blue ones for 250 gold each, and I don't remember what purple ones are sold for. You're initially limited to being able to sell a maximum of 50 items to a fence each day (as you level up your Legerdemain skill you can spend skill points to increase this daily limit).

As @MissBizz says, you're more likely to get higher quality items by stealing from containers in banks, castles, mansions and such than you are by stealing from containers sitting around at the docks, or in a hovel. The most important thing, though, is to make sure that you're sneaking when you steal them and that nobody has detected you (this can be very hard to do in most banks), because if someone sees you stealing you'll get a bounty. If you have a bounty and a guard catches you then depending on your status he may attack you to kill you, or he may stop you to demand you pay off the bounty and return any stolen goods. So try not to get a bounty, and if you do get a bounty try to stay away from any guards until the bounty goes away (it goes away over time - including time while you're logged off).
