In preparation to play this game. I purchased a brand new Xbox One, all the accessories for it, a brand new high end router, a high end cable modem, a really nice headset, and upgraded to top end service from my local cable provider. I had no intention of buying or doing any of those things until this game was going to be coming to console. So I dropped probably about a grand in order to get the absolute most from my first Console MMORPG Elder Scrolls experience. A series of games that I have been in love with since I fist laid eyes on Arena on a friend of a friends computer.
As for that experience, I am incredibly underwhelmed at it's implementation. After bringing it home, I waiting for almost two hours for it to load and update onto my machine. Once it did and I actually managed to get into the game, I had the pleasure of getting attacked by creatures I could neither see nor target in the initial tutorial area. Later when attempting another gaming session, I was completely unable to log into the NA servers. After looking into the issue here online I was told to log into the EU servers (which I was able to log into just fine)and then back into the NA servers which I attempted to no avail. I then proceeded to send an email to support about the issue including noting that I had attempted the work around. To which I got an automated response which boiled down to "check your network" and "Contact your Console Customer service". No attempt at an apology, no explanation about it being a known issue that you were working on, no notification that a "real" person would ever get back to me or possibly even ever look at my issue(unless of course I made a point of insisting by responding myself), and definitely no sign that the response would seem rather ridiculous to anyone who had actually read my note. This was all day one.
Now on day two, earlier today I managed to get on, which judging from some of the posts on hear is most likely only because it was very early in the day, no where near "peak" hours. I did some running around and kept noticing all these pets running around with owners I couldn't see and chalked it up to new game growing pains. After adventuring a bit I then attempted to put some of my newly found loot into my bank, who wasn't there and continued to not be there when I entered and exited the building a few times just to be sure. I proceeded to quit in frustration.
An now tonight I am sitting at 2 hours trying to get back in hoping the banker is there, knowing that the only current solution to "fix" her showing up will be to log out, reboot my console and attempt to log back in, which could apparently take just as long or longer.
I'm incredibly disappointed, the only news has no real timeframe or suggested timeframe for any of these issues only a plaintive "we're working on it" and automated responses that for the most part seem to be meek attempts to shift blame. I'm beginning to feel quite the heel, since I'd been making a point of defending the game to my friends who had been warning me about all the bad press from the PC version.
I would really like to know when we can expect a game that we are actually able to log into in a timely manner, with NPCs and Mobs that can be seen and targeted that we are supposed to be able to see and target.
