Just a quick question

When searching the dead bodies of enemies if I take everything they have does that mean another player that was also fighting them gets nothing? I was under the impression that other players would not have an impact on available items, but while playing briefly last night another player called me a jerk after I searched a body and collected my loot.

Each loot roll is individual. You can all loot and get stuff. Grouping does not affect each others loot.
