kicked for message spamming. on a console? really?

So yeah, that. Error 318, kicked for excessive messaging. This has happened more than once. Like how is this even a thing. Now I can't log back in.

I'm used to this game erroring out all the time from playing pc but come on.

So jow long is the down time till you are able to get back online. Same just happend to me now it says cant log in due to a internal error

The message is misleading.

It's not chat messages, it's Client/Server messages which you have no control over and is caused by LAG ...

"Error 318
You have been dropped from the server because you hit the message rate limit. Please avoid excessive messaging (i.e. spamming)"

I have been getting the same error pretty frequently. What is surprising is that it keeps happening. Its usually an hour or two untill i can log back on.

@SirAndy is correct, this message generally relates to back-end messages that are being sent between the game client and the server. A lag spike can be one of the causes, but there are other causes that we are looking into as well.

We understand that this issue is frustrating, but we encourage you to try logging back in to the server from which you were kicked. You can also try various steps to minimize lag to see if they help as well, such as using a wired connection as opposed to wireless, etc.

Thanks for your patience as we investigate this issue further.

if you are actually not message spamming and its only the data flow error then no you wont be "banned"

Weird stuff can make this happen too, like falling out of the world, or trying to attack something during a heavy lag spike.
