Question about level scaling?

Majiinx

I know that once I reach 50 I will be able to goto the other factions zones and they will be scaled up to my level. But I was wondering will I be able to quests and content in my own factions zones and have them scaled up level 50?

    Nope.

The zones in your starting faction will remain at the same level. However, the main quest, fighters and mages guild quest lines will scale to your level.

None of the zones scale right now, actually. The only place where you are scaled up is in Cyrodiil.

You get access to Cadwell's Silver once you finish the Main Quest line (I won't spoil it for you).

You don't have to be level 50 to do that. I've seen players in the high 40s in the "Vet zones". You need to finish the Main Zone quests in the "Silver" faction to get access to the "Gold" faction zones.

If you outlevel your own home faction quests, you are still able to earn quest XP, but you will not get any XP for killing mobs along the way.

For the most part, no. Relatively little in this game actually scales to your level: even the zones of the other alliances aren't really scaled to your level. Instead they're scaled to certain specific vet levels depending on your alliance. For example, my main is a Daggerfall Covenant character. He's currently VR9, and he's questing in Stonefalls (the first full Ebonheart Pact zone - meaning he's already completed the DC zones and the AD zones), where everything is scaled to VR6.

The things that actually scale to your level* are:
    • The main story's quests.
    • The Fighters Guild and Mages Guild quests
    • Group dungeons (actually they scale to the level of the group leader if you have people in the group of multiple levels)
    • Crafting writs
    • The quests to become a Werewolf or Vampire
    • One particular quest in Reaper's March where you have to fight in an arena - the quest itself doesn't scale to your level, but the portions where you're in an arena fighting are scaled to your level
I can't think of anything else that actually scales to your level, but I may have missed something.

*note that most of these have a minimum level and will not scale lower than that level, but they will scale up to your level

Thank you for the great answers everybody, that is reassuring to know that even if I out level zones and quests certain things will scale. I find that there is so much to do in this game.

Once you hit Coldharbour after your last alliance zone, you won't have to really worry much about out-leveling zones, as everything that's level 45+ will still give you loot and XP (albeit reduced) once you're VR1.

Having said that, if you're finding you're out-leveling earlier zones (I know I did on all of my characters), I'd suggest waiting to do the things that do scale until later - that way it shouldn't be until the final alliance zone that you're actually fighting mobs that are so much below your level that you don't get anything for them, and even then this will only happen in a small portion of that zone.

Yes, and if you're like me and love to finish ALL the quests and explore everywhere... you WILL outlevel your zones. It gets less important in the vet zones, as you will still get mob xp and quests don't turn gray. I just hit VR12 and believe I am in my VR8 zone right now. But don't worry about that! Play the game how you want :)
