Quest bugs - Cannot talk to character

twhiting9275
So far, at least 2 NPC's that I've had to talk to in order to complete quests have appeared greyed out.

Officer Lorin - The family business
Cartirinque - Dark Knowledge

Both of these 'appear' to be there, however not active, there is no quest marker on them, and they can't be interacted with.

Adding Ulondil - The Perils of Diplomacy to this
Seems there's far too many bugs in the system here. How is it possible this was even 'tested'?

    Adding to this thread:

    Quest - Long Lost Lore
    NPC - Valaste
Step - Talk to Valaste - he is not present for this step, even after zoning in and out multiple times. While zoning, I also notice the GM Nemarc and randomly other NPCs will not always be present.

I'm having a similar problem, except instead of being grayed out, my quest npcs do not appear at all. For any quests!

If you perform a hard reset (holding the power button to shut off) and then logging back in. The NPC should be there. I had this issue as well and this fixed it for me.

This worked for me, at least for Ulondil . others with the same problem might want to try it.
While we shouldn't have to do this (I actually tried going to another game and back, logging out, etc), this at least works for a temporary solution.

Have had this happen multiple times. Going to try resetting my Xbox and see if that helps. If nit, I will have to wait and play once there is an update.

My problem with this is exacerbated greatly by the fact that if I am able to log in it takes anywhere from ten minutes to an hour so hard resetting sets me back at least that long every time I would need to. Yesterday I decided to just play around those quests and let them sit at the point of those characters. This quickly became a problem as I had 8-10 quests that I could no longer go further in. 2-4 of these were major storylines as well. After waiting an hour and not being able to log back in last night I tried again today and after a 20 minutes wait I am in and 2 of the characters that were not spawning in/showing up etc were there and I'm checking the rest now. It also seemed to fix the "ghost players" were there were many player controlled characters running around, but they just show up as a black ghost or a silohuette (sp?). Granted I have only seen 4 PCs since logging on, but yesterday they would all have been blacked out. Not sure what they are doing about all this glitching and lag, but it really ruined my experience so far. I was probably one of the most excited people around for this game. I championed it against those who said it would turn out ***, but so far I took time off to spend two days with it and they've been a headache instead of an enjoyable vacation. These issues have been ruining it for me. It obviously needed more rigorous testing. I didn't have these issues when I played the beta for almost 20 hours, I shouldn't have them now. Don't let this ruin what could potentially be a great thing. FIX YOUR GAME PLEASE! I spent 80$ and was going to buy stuff in the Crown Store, but not if this is the quality I can expect. PLEASE!!!!

...aaand then she crashes altogether. Super disappointed that this is where ES has gone.

Travelled to one of the smaller Isles and after starting a mission, all NPC's dissapeared. I could bump into them but couldn't speak to them. Hope this gets fixed soon as I got stuck mid way through 4 quests.

According to their Facebook page, they plan to fix the disappearing issue in the first patch.
Here's hoping that first patch rolls out in the next week or so, but unlikely

Having never played any ES before, despite having the games, I'm truly disappointed with this game. Stuck on so many quests because I can't talk to the invisible npc's, and all those silhouette guys, at first it was one or two, now it's everyone. How could such truly monumental glitches have made it into a released game?

Is anyone having a problem with starting the "Warning Davon's Watch" quest after killing the general in Bal Foyen in the Ebonheart Questline?

I completed the quest and received my reward from Centurion Mobaweed, but he isn't prompting the next quest, so I am basically in limbo. Not only that, this bug seemed to be around since last year based on my research.

    Poor testing, that's how.
I fully agree though, this should never, ever have been.
