I've seen a few threads about console UI issues. Many of them reference add-ons that are not available on consoles. I've never experienced add-ons but I have played MMO RPGs before. There are some changes that need to be made to better improve the experience.
1) Mini map. This omission is odd. Forcing users to open the map as often as we have to significantly slows down gameplay. Make a small, semi-transparent map. Put it in the top right corner. Problem solved.
2) Group feedback on the compass. You can see the group leader's crown but you can't see the other group members locations without opening the map. Color code group members. Place the dot on the compass (or a better solution. Anything is better than having to open the map)
3) Inventory management. This requires a more significant change but is wishful thinking. Having to access the menu, then a series of submenus, then scroll through a list is inefficient. The current system is difficult when managing 60 items. I can upgrade inventory space but that only makes the problem worse. The inventory seems to scream for a grid implementation. I understand it violates the minimalist theme the UI is going for but for a game where so much time is required, usability should trump aesthetics, in this area. Maybe there's a better option than a grid (with dialog overlays) but this menu/scroll option is not the answer.
There are others but these are my top 3. I'm just starting my ESO experience and loving it. I would love it a lot more if I didn't have to exit the gameplay and live in the menus and maps. Addressing these 3 items would greatly improve the experience.
