Achievements and Trophies

With my high lvl characters transferred over to the console I'm noticing I've already completed several achievements that would give me trophies and gamer points however none have been rewarded. Do I need to start from scratch to get the Xbox and Ps achievements / trophies ?

I believe so. It appears to be the action of unlocking the achievement in-game, rather than merely having the achievement in-game, that triggers the XB1/PS4 achievement/trophy unlock.

So new console players can at least take solace in the fact that PC transfers have to start a new alt to earn trophies.
    This is a good thing.

Hey everyone. Just to confirm, achievements you acquired on your PC/Mac account that transferred with your characters will not apply retroactively towards earning console trophies. You'll need to earn the trophies by playing on your console account (in some cases, that may mean getting the same achievements on a different character).

I don't play on console nor do I plan to, but if I did... I would be throwing a fit right about now.

What is the point of transferring characters if they don't have all of their progress with them? A great many achievements can only be awarded once, namely those related to leveling up, completing main story, zone and guild quests, discovering skyshards... Others (fishing, collectibles) are a huge grind that I wouldn't wish on anyone to have to repeat.

Even though this doesn't affect me directly, I feel it's a sign of how little consideration ZOS is showing towards players. Hopefully there will be a way to overcome this, but seriously guys at ZOS... try to give your development choices a tiny little bit more thought, would you?

EDIT: You should probably disregard this post, as apparently I didn't understand the difference between in-game achievements and XBox/PS4-specific achievements/trophies.

@daemonios The achievements in question are Xbox and Playstation specific (Trophies on the PS4). We still have our ESO "achievements", but not the ones that add to the Xbox Gamerscore.

With that said, it is not unusual to have to re-do achievables on the Xbox. It's the way most re-released titles have handled the situation.

I didn't realize these were two different things, thank you for pointing that out. So each character will have their own ESO achievements, fully transferred from the PC, and there will be XBOne/PS4-specific achievements/trophies which are independent of those and account-wide, right?

Yeah, your console achievements are connected to your concole account, your gamer tag or playstion network account or whatever.

Yes. For instance last night I got a 5 point Xbox achievement for completing the tutorial dungeon, I also saw the typical ESO achievements pop up on screen. If I create another character I won't get the same Xbox achievement, but I'll keep getting the appropriate ESO ones.

Since this is not a console specific forum it would be helpful to include in the title (PS4 or MB1) what it's for. Unfortunately the GMs don't think it's a big deal to have everything lumped into one forum.

Most re-released titles have not had character copies from a previous version of the game. Those that I have played which did have character copies (GTA:O and Borderlands 2) popped the achievements I had already earned on the 360 either as soon as I loaded into the game or with minimal repeat of objectives.

To put that into perspective for ESO, upon logging in with my V14 character that has done all PvE content, achievements like "Level 50 Hero" and "Hero of the Ebonhart Pact" should have unlocked immediately, while things like "General Executioner" or "Dawn of a Champion" might require the copied character to kill one anchor general or spend another champion point.

There is no established precedent for making copied characters repeat content like you are leading on.

Borderlands 2 popped two achievements for me, I have over 77% on the 360 version. It did not give me story completion, level 50, multiple exploration achievements etc. With GTA I still don't have the first multiplayer achievement and had to (with great joy) re-do all the single player story to get those achievements.

Add to that Minecraft and Diablo 3 where copied save/character did not yield corresponding achievements.

Didn't play Diablo 3 on 360, so no argument there.

Minecraft was a world copy and yes, I got a great many achievements by copying over a world that had the criteria set up for everything I could do and the just completed the steps on the new version.

GTA V (the story) did not have any sort of copy. That's why I specified GTA: Online, which popped 8 for me including level related ones.

I'm not trying to say the games were specifically set up to give you credit for previous achievements, but they sure weren't set up to explicitly not allow for back credit like ESO currently is.

It shouldn't even be too difficult to set up given ESO's ingame achievement list.
if this is the character's first login
for each of the character's unlocked achievements
if this achievement has a corresponding Xbox One achievement or PS4 trophy
unlock Xbox One achievement or PS4 trophy

Edit: my guess would be that somewhere along the line a decision was made to not back credit achievements/trophies so that transferring players might get sucked into the grind again and thus be around to potentially spend more money on crown items. (Console so far has felt like a cash grab, but it is too soon to make that accusation with any certainty. Further, that is not the point of this thread. I digress.)

No argument from me on that. It's a business, and they don't want people to have 500 to 700 achievement points pop in a few seconds and have them then say "well I'm done". May as well rope in the achievement hunters.

THIS NEEDS TO BE PATCHED IN! HOW THIS WAS HANDLED WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I would eventually get over it if everyone didn't get to keep their achievements they did on the PC, but that simply isn't the case. If you look at basically anybody with over 10 achievements in the game even from a small sample (http://www.exophase.com/game/the-elder-scrolls-online-tamriel-unlimited-xbox-one/leaderboard/) you see that multiple achievements are unlocked at the same time. Xbox One achievements can't be hacked (currently at least) so these achievements unlocked for these people when they signed into their accounts. I also confirmed this by messaging a few of them.

I find it unacceptable that my ~2500 hours on the PC are essentially worth nothing because the achievements can't be re-earned on the character I completed them with. Why do some people get to keep their achievements while others get f*ck all? That is what really makes me upset. I transferred successfully but I don't get what these people get. All I can earn on my transferred characters is a mere 5 achievements since I would have unlocked 40 had I been in the group that got retroactively awarded achievements.

Since some people got them to retroactively unlock I believe you should patch the game so that everybody's achievements retroactively unlock. It is not fair to only unlock them for some people. Really it should be really easy to patch it to check to see if any of the 45 in-game achievements are unlocked and then unlock the actual Xbox achievement.

170 Gamerscore with 17 achievements is the top of the leaderboard? For a game that's been out for several days, that's slow, very slow. Usually people would already be bragging of having 1000.

Far short of 40, you'd hoped for.

In the end, don't worry about other peoples Gamerscore. They haven't earned anything in game that you missed out on. There will always be those that are one step up on you regarding a number that is virtually meaningless.

The point is they get to continue with their characters because all of their achievements unlocked RETROACTIVELY. I don't get to do that, since none of mine unlocked. It forces me to give up a substantial character which doesn't seem right considering I transferred same as them.

Like I said it would be okay if everyone didn't get retroactive achievements, but they showed through these people that they can retroactively pop achievements and it is bothering me since I should have most of them and don't.

Did you ask them if they finished the last quest of the main story, and that triggered getting all the other quest achievements?

And you can continue with your character, you don't have to give him up. Gamerscore is not the be all and end all of games, and this is coming from someone who is a few hundred points from 100,000 GS. There is more to games than arbitrary points.

But, if Gamerscore is that important may I suggest that you pick up a copy of "Monopoly Family Fun Pack" for the Xbox one, you can easily get 2,000 points from that gem. Also you are not alone with having to re-earn all the achievements. Almost everyone else has to do the same thing, a few people lucking out shouldn't affect you at all.

The really bad thing is that they're tied to ESO achievements and not really the objectives. Like the "destroy all anchors" achievement, if you already have it with your VR14 character, doing all the anchors again won't give the Xbox Achievement because you already have the stupid InGame achievement.

One more ZOS fail. If I transfer my characters it's because I don't want to redo everything, especially all those annoying VR levels.

There's definitely something a bit strange going on if people are getting multiple achievements unlocked at once. Based on @KoreanVader 's links, it seems to be Main Quest and dungeon bosses achievements that are being retroactively unlocked, but presumably not for everyone. Maybe @ZOS_AmeliaR could look into this further?

Yeah, based on what I have seen on other people's accounts in terms of multiple achievements unlocked at once there are...

    Main Quest
    Vampirism
    Lycanthropy
    Group Dungeons
    Support the Fight
    __________Master Explorer
    __________Style Master
    Hero of [Insert Faction Here]

There are also other tracking sites such as http://www.trueachievements.com/gamegamer.aspx?gameid=5501 which take more clicks to see the time stamps, but show that in addition to the above,

Level 50 Hero can also unlock.
