You know there are tons of people who are skipping all that just trying to level up quickly. It won't stop anytime soon. It always happens when a MMO comes out.

I normally skip that stuff with PC games, but I read it all on console games.

Really? I'm curious why you do it differently depending on the platform. I can understand why you might do it differently depending on the type of game (like, for example, skipping it in an MMO, but reading it in a single player RPG), but I can't think of a reason why you would do it differently based on the platform.

I have been listening/reading all the dialogue but I will say I am still in the very beginning and I am hoping the story line starts getting better. I feel the MMO grind right now is just something I have to push through. Mind you I am still only a lvl6, so it's bound to get better than rescuing pigs, people, and investigating a local murder.

Totally off-topic, but if you're level 6 and you're doing those things then I can tell that you're in Daggerfall and you're doing the quests there without having done the starter islands (Stros M'kai and Betnikh). There should have been a quest giver immediately across the street from the house you woke up in after the Coldharbour tutorial. I strongly suggest you follow that quest and go to Stros M'kai, and do all of the quests and such there (which then leads you to Betnikh, where you should do the quests there) before continuing on questing in Daggerfall and the rest of Glenumbra.

If you don't do the starter islands you'll miss out on XP, skill points (there are sky shards there), the beginning of your alliance's storyline, and quests designed to teach you some of the common questing mechanics (like the use of disguises). By the time you finish the starter islands, if you haven't done any quests in Glenumbra you should be about level 8. As you've clearly already done some quests in Glenumbra, you'll probably be almost level 10 by the time you finish the starter islands.

Sounds like you went DC. FInd the boatswain on the dock and head out to the starter island to talk to the people who pulled you out of the drink. You kinda are starting in the early middle part of your zone story. Otherwise, you may find the mobs will eat you faster than you eat them.

Oh, and, OP, sorry.. didnt buy console so I kaint vote.

I just can get more into/focused on console games for some reason, always been like that. I read every single line of dialogue in Paper Mario games (no voice acting), but if it were on PC, I'd probably skip a lot of the lines when they start rambling.

There needs to be a separate thread for consoles.

But after getting the Tamriel Hero achievement on my main and having v11 and v8 alts (Dark Elf NB dw/bow and imp DK 2h/sb respectively) I still read them all. Some of the best written IMO <---very important part. Some of the acting pretty awesome. Kate Beckinsale as a Queen and I'm in. And I do enjoy AvAvA styles of pvp a ton.

Started off trying to get it all read / listened to, but man there is a lot in there. I think for me it is going to become like skipping the lengthy combat in HoMM style games ... just a real timesaver in a game that already sucks so much time!

Having said that, I always read the text in WoW quests first time through, right up until WoD, where the "story" was just so unengaging ... and unsubbing. This on XB1 will be enough MMO now :).

I have done the quests before, and recently, so no, I am not sticking around to read them.

I was discussing with a friend that they should make a version of the game where the VO dialog files are not downloaded to the console, making the storage and download times more reasonable.

I read every line. I want to be immersed in the story and my character and leveling up will happen in it's own time. I am only L10 at the moment and I am just enjoying getting to know the game again as it's a year since I played it on PC.

I am happy to go at my own pace and play the game for ages to get the most out of it. I think skipping elements of it to level up faster is kind of defeating the purpose. I do understand those who want to get it done as soon as they can because there are so many other games coming out that they also want to play, however I am into this game for the long run and don't mind spending years in Tamriel. I plan to be coming back to ESO even after I have played Elder Scrolls 6 (and beyond) as I think the game will continue to evolve for years to come, so there is no rush for me.

I've already played the beginning so many times... Once I get to around level ~20, I'll start reading it thoroughly. Right now I'm just skimming as I know exactly what's happening anyways from playing PC. However, if I hadn't played the game before, I would definitely read everything. Even the books on the bookshelves.

Thanks for that, I had only just found that quest giver and I am almost level 7 I had been ignoring that quest as I assumed it took me to the next zone not a starting zone. I will hit that one up first thing tonight

In Beta.... I blasted through everything so I could see as much as possible in that short time-frame.

But now that its live... I'm doing this as I've done all ES games before....

Enjoying EVERY minute of all of it. Listening to quest-givers, reading all dialog choices, lore books... EVERYTHING!
Even stopping to drop a line in the water.... just cause!

Been waiting a LONG time for this game.....

Ben about 6 months since I started a new character... so I read, or listen depending on what's going on.

A lot of people don't. Seeing a lot of people in EP ~ level 9-10 in full coldharbor outfits and 2 h swords milling around quest areas. if I put down a quest trigger and spawn a needed boss or whatever, they jump on it and wander to next quest. Hear a lot of people going... "uhh where is the guy I gotta kill?" Gotta put the skull on the thing, boss...you know the skull you spent the last 4 quests getting... nooo? oook.

The learning curve was kinda flat today.

Just to clarify. Ive played the game on PC so Ive ran through the story once. And I do plan on slowing down now to read through. But the Level 10 requirement for making a Guild made it a no brainer that I had to speed run through some content just so I could get the Guild up and running for my Guildmates.
