Cold boot your Xbox (shut down, pull the power plug, count to ten then plug back in and power up).

Did the trick for me and been fine ever since.

Hey, folks! If doing a hard reboot does not being the sound back and you have stereo speakers, ensure that your console isn't set to 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound setting.

It actually does work to preform a hard reset. Try this only after you make sure your Xbox one's audio output is correct.
