One does not simply save on an MMO. You should log out, log in and pick up from where you left off.

Serious answer: You shouldn't ever need to save your progress in an MMO.

Because you're sharing the world with everyone else in the game (or everyone on the same server anyway) most things can't happen twice, so you can't lose progress or re-load. Everything you do is saved automatically and any time you log in you should pick up from where you last left-off.

Had you lost literally everything you did during that time: all the quests you completed were available again, all the items and gold you got were gone? Or were you just back at the same point in the world?

The game periodically saves your progress as you go along. It will also save your progress as you log out. Sometimes you will see the "You will logout in 10 seconds" when you try to logout, part of that is the system saving your progress, the other part is temp files and whatnot being resolved.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

There do exist quests that will reset to their first step if you log out halfway through. One that comes to mind was when you visit cheesemonger's hollow. I got interrupted doing that a few times, and had to start over when I picked back up a day later.

Not sure if the tutorial has any of that in it.

Hi there, @oooTOMooo. Can you confirm that you logged into the same megaserver (North American or European) both times? Characters and progress on each are completely separate. For instance if you logged into NA and played, but then logged into the EU one by accident the second time, your original character will not appear (because they are still on the NA megaserver).

However, the main reason is that the system prevents you from using "logout" as a "panic" button. If your characters isn't in a "safe" area, it keeps your character in-game for some time to make sure you aren't trying to use the logout as a way to evade a threat. It lets you know it is keeping your character in-world for those 10 seconds so that you can either choose to keep your UI open in case you need to fight, or choose to close it immediately - in which case your character will still be in-world for 10 seconds, but without you, and so unable to defend if attacked.
