After loading i'm always in area chat list yet mic is muted - Bug? [PS4]

After a loading screen during which my microphone was muted I always appear as actively talking list in the area chat list.. forever.. until I un-mute and re-mute the microphone or unplug and plug it back in. This is with the default PS4 headset. However if my microphone was not muted then after the loading screen my name quickly flashes on the list (as visible by my name in the bottom-right corner) and then immediately disappears.
So far I have encountered several people in area chat with the symbol next to their name for 5 to 10 minutes but saying nothing besides some occasional static, it's apparent there is an audio stream coming from them but that they have their microphones muted. I think these folks are experiencing the same "issue" and are not aware.
Is this a bug? It's pretty annoying having to flip the switch on the microphone after each loading screen. Once players start having to wayshrine around everywhere to use guild traders that could get super annoying!

pecheckler✭✭✭✭✭Does this make sense to anyone? After about 8 hours played i'm still experiencing this. Even lowered microphone volume on PS4 by a third, using a different controller, and bought a new PS4 stock headset but same issue. Charging up an old bluetooth headset to try next.End the tedious inventory management game.0

I have noticed the same issue. I just unplug my mic then plug it back in to fix it0

When I was playing earlier, I found my solution to this issue by going into something like settings->area chat (I can't log in, or I could give you more precise instructions) and leaving area chat. Hope this helps.0

Well of course that would stop the bug because then you're not in a chat channel so the game doesn't access your microphone.... That's not a resolution though.End the tedious inventory management game.0 -

Same, very annoying flicking my mic on & back to off. I'm more curious if its actually picking up or just simply showing my name.0

It is sad that such console bugs somehow never get fixed as ESO somehow is a PC game...0
