So will we be seeing stick figures running around in Cyrodiil? What's the definitions of 'lower detail character models'?

LOD on character models from a distance. By the time you get to them, they'll be fully detailed.

I hope so, like distance fog. I just hope distance isn't '20 yards'...lol

It's really the only viable solution from a technical perspective. I just cringed when he said 1080p 30fps and kinda said 'but' in Cyrodiil we had to lower character details in the distance. It's almost like he was going to say 'but we're not gonna be able to maintain 30fps in Cyrodiil'

IF this goes a long way to stop the lag in Cyro, it'll be a good thing.

    Time will tell.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

Perhaps it will look a bit like this

*An interesting observation...notice how the players are not clumped together in one tight zergball. ZOS should really look at what about DAoC discouraged players from stacking.

Did they say whether or not they had this in place during beta? I don't recall any differences in character model quality while doing medium sized fights then. It might just be that with all the stuff going on, I didn't really focus on graphic fidelity.

This feature was added after beta because of beta testing. That was said during the video.

My guess would be a combination of different factors such as how the crowd control and AoE abilities worked. There was brutal crowd control that lasted a long time ( you didn’t want to be caught in an AoE mezz ) and no AoE caps.

Not sure that kind of crowd control would be well accepted nowadays, but adjusting AoE is definitely something they should be looking into. (just my opinion)

    Two things:

    1) Powerful AOE. Certain classes had powerful ranged aoe attacks (direct damage and dots). Even more deadly was point blank aoe (PBAOE) which was very good at breaking up zergs. Also aoe poison and disease could mess up a zerg.

    2) Long duration AOE crowd control (mezz and root). This could last for a minute or more in certain cases and really locked down a zerg. Often a game changer if someone could land a mass mezz.

So players tended not to run around in tight clumps, even when zerging. And everyone would try and spread on contact with another force, to lessen the impact of the aoe damage and crowd control.
