If i put an item up for sale for 500 gold, do i pay a fee upfront regardless of if its sold or not? Or do i only pay a tax/fee once its sold?

and what is the fee?

There are two costs, Listing Fee and House Cut

The listing fee you pay up front but you get it back if it sells (lost if you cancel or it does not sell)
The House cut, is only applied if the item sells, and they take a 'cut' of the amount you sold it for

So if it does not sell, you lose the listing fee
If it does sell, you lose the House cut (but you get refunded the listing fee)
