@Zos Question concerning XBoxOne and digital pre-purchase from MS

First of all I have purchased the console copy, got my email yada yada.

XBox One Digital Imperial.

IF I were to go ahead and pre-purchase from MS on the XBox site in order to pre-download and avoid the monday night madness,

will my ability to link the accounts and use my copied character set be impacted in ANYWAY?

I know it is an additional expense on my part BUT if there is no downside to doing this this might be a way to eliminate the June 8th exercise.

Thank you!

You could do what many appear to be doing, pre order, download, then cancel pre order. Then when you get the code from Zenimax, you already have it downloaded.

    I understand that approach.

Personally, I would consider that action "Bad Karma" and would prefer just buying it and be done with it.

IF I can still link accounts.

    Otherwise

    I will wait.

Great question. I'm going off the email which suggests linking after you load the game is how to access the copied characters rather than the code.

*Subject to change and also subject to miss-interpretation.

-you could always hold onto the code they'll send June 8th to verify but ...
    Best of luck

    No information yet!

    The silence is deafening!

and to the other question about the $60..................I probably would if I could be sure it would not HOSE UP the character copy process.

Just based on the info we have...IF someone wants to buy the digital game to pre-download, that's fine

    Answer:
The email says to access your character's you will need to link your account

The code has nothing to do with the account copy.
There are knowledge based articles regarding the same question for disc too.
*I would just be mindful to keep the code unused until you get your save.

This option was on the console BETA to upgrade using the crown store but realize your crowns didn't transfer from PC, just the characters and your bank and inventory.

No guild stuff either or mailboxes

I have the character copy coming to me on the 8th and I always had the standard edition on PC not the imperial edition.
If I were to buy the imperial addition in the Xbox store would I have any conflicts transferring over my characters from the standard PC version?

I think you would have conflicts.

I thin it would be better if you transferred, logged in, then bought imperial upgrade on crown store (should be cheaper because it is just an upgrade).

Why not have a friend that has pre-order come over, if possible, and sign in to your Xbox One where you would then be able to pre-install; I think.

I am actually thinking of doing the same thing. My question however is this:

Is the Code ZOS giving us tied to our account in any way, shape or form? Is it a standard code like you get when you buy a system and they have the codes for the games you download?

If it is just a generic standard code, you can always resale the code. I actually have a friend ready and willing to buy my code for $50.00 instead of him spending $60.00 plus tax for the game. This way, I would just buy the pre-order and download it now, log in and my characters from PC should be there. He then get's his code at a discount and I have another IRL friend to play the game with.

I just need to know if the Codes ZOS is sending are generic codes just for the game itself and it is not tied to our account or anything?

I think it is a code that includes the box type you own (imperial, adventurer). The characters seem to come from linking the acct.

They have not been really clear though.

I'm going to post this here too....as it's similar to another thread....if you do decide to double purchase....
While we know the save is accessed by linking your account, we don't know if any other limitations or access iss tied to the code.

I'm pretty confident that its not BUT....I'm not a ZOS employee

****I'd suggest only buying a pre-order if you don't mind spending an extra $60-$80 *****

I will tell you that...selling the codes might get you banned.
I recall during the BETA ZOS commented that giving a code away was fine but selling a code is not O K.

Just be careful as the Xbox enforcement team could deem this as a cause to ban you. If you're on PS4, no advice...just be careful. I'd say leave the topic alone on here for sure.

DEFINITELY don't sale it for more than what you paid.

Its too easy to determine if the code granted was used by the buyer...when you link your account, they may have checks and balances in place.
what you can do is this....use another xbox live or PSN account and buy the pre-order.
THEN use the June 8th code on your profile.

This is the only logical and sure-way not to mess up anything

Guys...be careful...those types of actions can have legal and "ban-able" results. Make sure you read the console information before you jump on a boat and end up in a less desired situation.

All I'm saying is make sure you read before you act....I'm not very familiar with PSN and their fraud or cancellation policies for PSN pre-orders.

    Hello!

Thank you for reaching out to support regarding this issue with preloading the console game prior to launch. At this time, the only way to appropriate attach your account to your console is to use the game code that will be released to you on 06/08. This code is what will attach your characters/game progress to your Xbox account. Purchasing the game through the Xbox is not needed as you will receive the full game with your console transfer.

    Warm regards,
    RJ S.

Some of last nights conversation. I still don't believe I have a straight answer unless I'm reading it wrong. I was trying to find out if I could pre download from Xbox live now and just use the code for the character copy on the 8th. Or do I have to use the code and download the game at the same time to successfully get the character copy.

    That answer looks pretty clear.
If you want to pre load buy the game on another account. (If you don't have another account...buy it for a friend- have them come over, log in and buy it under their account on your console. Let it download completely)
Do not buy on the account you want to use
When you get the code, use it on the account you intend to use and then proceed to link your ZOS account when prompted on the console after launching the game.

I would go by what they sent you. No reason to argue with their reply IMO
