ESO Console - Any form of damage/combat text, pop ups, logs, or anything?

I remember seeing a developer post/article maybe a month ago (which I cannot find at the moment) that said the console version will include certain extremely well received PC Addons built into the game. One such addon is the item loot preview thingie.

Is there any sort of combat/damage text coming to the console version as well? In all RPG'S I have always strongly preferred seeing this, as it clearly shows how effective skills, leveling, etc are.

nope, that whole thing with the add-ons was apperently completely dropped AND then they preceded to take out more elements (I.e. chatbox)

Wait, was the lootdrop functionality taken out?? You have to have autoloot set if you're using a controller, right? So how are you supposed to know what you're getting?

Unfortunately I wasn't paying enough attention during beta to notice :/
@NewBlacksmurf - I trust trust you with this info - Was that functionality taken out, as PKMN12 says?

No it was still there. You don't have to have autoloot set either.

I fail to see the need for a combat log in this game, given that all the content can be done with mediocre gear. Min/maxing isn't a necessity, so knowing how much damage/healing you actually do isn't either. All a combat log does is inflate egos when they aren't needed.

People knew things would be even more minimalist on consoles versus PC.
Would the answer really matter? Once other mmo standards get added to ESO console more will come. The next one might be one you are glad is not present on consoles like text chat or Lorebooks.

On Xbox when you loot a screen pops up like PC where "A" is loot one item and "X" is loot all items. You can highlight each item prior to making any selection.

The console version has a very comprehensive combat log. It isn't on by default but it isn't hard to get started. Send a self addressed stamped envelope with character name, time period you want logs for, console you play on, and $7.35 to Zenimax care of The Combat Log Department. Please allow 3-5 weeks for delivery.

Honestly I don't really care about combat logs, I really just want the popup damage texts.

I guess my question is this: why? I use a combat log add on for the PC, and I can honestly say looking back it has done literally nothing for me. There's no point to it in this game because the game isn't focused around being X good to do Y content.

They can be handy though, I use one sometimes when I have different skills, just to learn what combinations give the best damage, I used to get slaughtered in PvP, I still die a lot, but now I know how little damage I was doing etc, it really helped me improve my playing.

To clarify, in World of Warcraft, for example, a combat log is a necessity, because some of the end game content is not accessible until you reach a specific "power level". ESO is much more about know how to fight something rather than the actual damage you do.

I just like seeing obvious improvements to my character as I level up, to show my efforts aren't in vain. Having an attack I normally did 347 with now doing 392 with is obviously a good indicator.

Some of us also don't have great eye sight. I use a PC add on so I know when my skills proc, as I don't notice any difference on my character

I guess I can understand where you're coming from, but I can also understand where ZOS is coming from. Frankly, they should have it on by default for both PC and consoles. It's absolutely not needed, but since some players would like it and it's such an incredibly simple addition, it should be an option.

Then again with them removing chat altogether it becomes very clear why they no longer offer it.

    Why is that?
To the o.p. no damage numbers, health bars % big crits numbers ect, none of that .
Just like the chat box apparently, providing OPTIONAL features, ruins the "experience "....
Meanwhile even witcher 3 a single player game, has damage numbers , they can be turned off i assume, didnt actually check but you get the point.

    Tldr
Nope none of the stuff you asked about will be available. Go zos :)

Anyone here remember when ESO had a combat log and a minimap, all-built in without the need for add-ons?
