Elder Scrolls Online: Suggestions and things for the future.

Okay, so as we know console release is next week for Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. A big time for Zenimax as they have been working hard on getting the game out the door for the consoles. I wish them all the luck with console launch.

As for the future of the game, we know that a lot of this depends on how well the console version goes down. Naturally I am hoping that the version does well, as if it does it means a healthy future for the game ahead.

The thing is, console gamers are a different market for them than the PC player base. Console gamers can (not all) be notoriously fickle. They pick up a game, play it for a while and move on when the next shiny thing comes along.

The PC players have been waiting since September when Upper Craglorn was released for new and proper content. I'm afraid to say that console players will not wait around that long for new content. You will need to push new and regular content (I do not mean regular Crown Store updates) to keep the game fresh and interesting, otherwise a lot of people will just walk away, as I have seen happen from the PC version. A lot of console players who have not played the PC version will come into the game expecting Skyrim Online, which, this isn't at all. It is an Elder Scrolls flavoured MMORPG that is missing a lot of ES themes.

Predominantly:

Dark Brotherhood.
Thieves Guild.
Random and fun world events and occurrences.
Schools of Magic.
Lots of Armour types and variations.
Player housing and storage.

To name a few. I realise that a lot of these things are coming, but the sooner you can add them, the better to give people more of a feel of familiarity to the series.

The thing is, I love ESO:TU. I have sunk more hours into it than I care to count. As I have with all other ES titles, but really, this is it. Console release is very much D-Day for this game. If you fail to hold a console audience, I hate to say it but I do not think that this game will last beyond that. You need to balance between BOTH the PC and the Console gamers. You need to keep both sides happy, which judging from the majority of the posts in this forum, you aren't. If this game is to have longevity, you need to think longer term than quick fix Crown Store items and fluff.

Add more group stuff as well as PVE things. Show the PVP some love, as there hasn't been one single real change added to that since initial release. Make players love logging into Cyrodiil and fighting proudly for their faction, rather than running around and zerging and crashing out every few minutes.

I realise that a lot of resources have been put onto the console version, but now you have to focus on the game as a whole rather than just one group. Make us love coming into Tamriel as we have in the past. Look to ES titles of the past for inspiration.

I look forward to Imperial City, Wrothgar, Murkmire and any other dang piece of meaningful content that you can put into this game. You've created a beautiful version of Tamriel. Now give us reason to really love it.

Best of luck for a successful console launch
