Who else is waiting?

Just wondering who else is waiting for the PC controller support and UI to come back and play?

I got my change to get hands on with the console beta at a friends house and honestly, the UI and control style is way better. It really feels like ZOS poured their hearts into it. Super responsive and intuitive!

Down side is when I went back to play on the PC, it kind of killed it for me. So now I wait....

While I play with a Mouse and Keyboard, I have a few friends that are "Console Guys". I got them to play ESO, and while they will play with a Mouse and Keyboard...they do so very reluctantly.

They seldom play anymore, but if they could use an Xbox One controller and play ESO with it on their huge-ass Projectors...I know they'd come back.

    *edit*

It should at least be an option, IMO. Just like TERA.

Glad to hear that the UI is great on the consoles. I'm not waiting on it for PC, i'm still going to keep playing. I am looking forward to it though. I will probably use the controller a lot more than the m/k.

Do you mean they play ESO with a controller? Or they play games in general on their PC with controllers?

If they're playing ESO, I'm guessing they're using something like Pinnacle / JoyToKey / DS4 Windows / etc.?

I've always used Xpadder for the Controller, and it works very well. In 1st Person, plays just like Skyrim, but with more moves. And you can easily configure it to match, and alternate between, different characters if necessary.

I'm not waiting, but I may switch to playing with controller on PC.

I may not though, because I like to chat on PC and I'll probably lean back with controller and have to keep lurching forward to type.

While on Xbox, I can "slouch on my couch" as it were and not affect any other gameplay element.

I'm usually on a some voice chat or another on my PC. Not always with people playing ESO.

I wouldn't think they would for a PC. Too many people use 3rd party stuff. I've seen MMOs try it before and usually people stick with their own 3rd party stuff.... and they don't have the infrastructure handy... not like 11 million Xbox live chat servers.

I wouldn't think it is worth the cost in time and equipment for PC>

I still can't understand why such basic features were not implemented since launch. Adding a extra control scheme is not rocket science, yet it makes life so much easier for some people. I am a mouse and keyboard warrior for decades, but some nights i just want to kick back a bit from the screen and hold a controller (and i don't even particularly like controllers). I still sit at a desk, i just don't want to keep my hands on it, especially if i had a tiring day.

Using xpadder and such is a temporary solution, but far too much hassle considering i might only use it every now and then. And it's not native too, means many functions can't be used without mouse or keyboard support, so swapping between 2 control methods kind of defeats the purpose of controller play.

To be honest, and I'm really trying not to come off as knowing anyone ones job or everything that goes on in the back end, but some of ZOS's decisions really have me scratching my head sometimes.

My perspective comes from daily crunching numbers and statistics for a major corporation. Sometime's you DO have to do what's right for a business even if it's not necessarily right for the customer, because it protects the longevity of the business which in turn means you will have customers in the future.

But you always have to strike a careful balance. For example if the last year of ESO on the PC would have been called "early access," and then the actual "PC release" would have corresponded with the console release, they would have saved themselves a lot of pain and backlash from the community.

In business and in dealing with people, simple wording can make all the difference. And the beauty of it is that it costs virtually nothing to word things differently.

The one fear I have with the console release is they are still trying to market this game to the Skyrim sandbox RPG crowd. And it is NOT that type of game. But I do understand the business decision to do that. It looks really good on a boardroom power point presentation on estimated sales figures to be marketing to a already established customer base.

And yes this tactic will make a lot of money in the beginning just like the PC release did. It's just not a tactic for longevity.

ESO is great game! It's a great "theampark" MMORPG. It's not a sandbox RPG. It's just not. The longevity decision would be to market this games theampark and story strengths. This is how SWTOR turned around its similar lackluster launch year. When they stopped riding off the Star Wars license and really became their own thing.

ESO is and can become its own VERY successful thing. Just a little rewording would go a long way!

    My two cents.

I don't know why anyone would limit themselves with a controller. I used to think that way until I played more of my PC and less (to none) of my console. In fact for the first time since my Intellivision (dating myself) I am without a console. I see no point to them (for me).

Using my Naga Razor with 17 buttons and then my keyboard feels absolutely intuitive to me. A controller no longer works for me, since it limits you. If you played more with keyboard and a decent mouse you would eventually see my point. I'm about 87 percent sure of that.

So question as I have not played extensively on a PC in like 5+ years but isn't their macros and programs you can run to allow you to play with a controller? When I was running with ESO on MAC I was fine with mouse support for the time being as I knew I was migrating to console.

There is. You can get a controller to work "pretty well" with ESO with third party programs and mods that try and change the UI to be more controller friendly. But nothing beats the feel of the native UI and support they created for the consoles.
