What is the meta builds?

Can someone link me a site with a bunch of good builds, pvp mainly but pve would be cool too.

Like GW2, you'd goto http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki

Thing is, I'm lvl 35 dragonknight. But whenever I fight a lvl 14 or so, most of times I'm being bested by them. As in I deal like 1/20 of there health per hit or not even any at all. Then they slap me and its 1/8 of my hp gone.

WTF is up with that? I have blue and purple gear too, I have MORE skill points, more ACTUAL skill level (like my medium armor is 38, theres is probably 14), I can even swap weapons too.

I know they scale up everyone on nonveteran. But they don't give people lvl 14 equivalent skillponts, skills, gear, etc.
Tired of being bested, and I just want to know what all the OP builds are so I can fight them back with whatever OP build there using against me.
So please link those meta build websites. And thank you.

Wont let me edit my first post.
But I wanted to mention, that lvl 14 guy I saw.. He was fighting 3 of us at sametime too. His hp was hardly going down if it was at all.

That's what frustrated me, and made me make this post, because that guy should've got owned.

But apparently there are OP builds out there, and if others are using them, I want to use them too.

Under leveled, person winning a 1v3 fight, what nonsense is this.

Please link some sites with good pvp builds, like whatever is the current meta.

The best build site for TESO is probably Tamriel Foundry. Check out their theorycraft forums for your class. It doesn't get as much traffic as it once did, but the signal-to-noise ratio is excellent.

You may have to look beyond your build, though. Small scale PvP is largely about good timing with active defenses (e.g., dodge roll) and knowing how to counter that the other guy is doing. Much of that is just pure experience.

Any direct links within that site to the main meta build for pvp portion of it?

    Like for GW2,
    you go http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki
Click on ranked arena, and a drop down list of different builds are there.

    Also, any other sites too?

Fyi, you had a hard time with that level 14 because he was actually "veteran rank" 14, which means he was about 30 levels higher than you. He was max rank with good gear, against a level 35. Hate to break it to you, but you're not going to compete with him until you are at least veteran rank 5+.

    Uh no.

    This is on Blackwater Blade.

Yes, an actual level 14, bested 3 of us. I'm lvl 36 and I had 2 other people around me and I'm sure they are higher than 14.

Your problem is not the build. It is how you (and others around you) play. Level 14 does not have any build. He has not had time to get the necessary skills to complete one anyway. He is just playing way better than those three he killed.

As far as I know there is no list of competitive builds anywhere. You can find some builds posted here, but you cannot just copy them to BWB. That campaign basically has a different rule set than veteran campaign. BWB players have (generally) way better survivality and way lower damage than veteran level players, so healing is actually pretty powerful.

There is no list of builds anywhere. And if there was, it wouldn't help you magically become a better player. If you're losing a 3v1 you're getting outplayed, not losing to some "OP build ".

You just got outplayed. That player was likely an experienced PvPer on an alt playing better than you three were. They also very likely had more champion points than the three of you combined.

You're not going to find a list of builds like a wiki. It feels like you're looking for an 'I Win' quick fix,but the best thing is experience. Take what you did when you lost, analyze it, and try and improve. To get better, look at what other players are doing successfully and emulate it in your own way. There are forums you can search, like Tamriel Foundry, and streamers and youtubers you can watch to see how good players play. FWIW, ZOS does a battle masters corner build focus somewhat regularly.

This is a game that you seem new to, it's going to take time to get better, and it's going to take patience. People have been playing this game since 2013, they're going to have a head start on you. And if you think it's frustrating now dying to people, imagine how bad it was with unlimited batswarm unstoppable DKs mowing down much more than 3v1. Keep playing, keep trying to get better, when you're leveled find a guild to play with who will help you improve your builds.

I wonder if that was my twinked up NB on BWB, she is level 14 atm so she fits the level. She hits like a mack truck I'll admit, and I've been able to 1vx with bads with her, so overall good success. No chance if they were good players of course.

She has a lot of CP spent in the right areas for her build, and you'd be suprized how many things you can unlock when you run purple training sets early on.

Now, she has a full set of purple spectres eye in medium armour making her slippery, and some groovy enchants, oh and....she has a level 12 masters weapon. I've got more skill points spare on her than I have skills atm as it's not hard for an NB to run dungeons grabbing shards etc. Blue reduction jewelry and blue food, and I plan to pass this gear on to the next few lowbies I build for PvP, hence the investment in the mats, gear etc...

FWIW, there is no special website that will give you a meta build that will just stomp all over everyone, you'll you need to be able to play well on top of whatever your build will be.

    Experienced players are OP.

    It is horribly misused, yes.

The correct term would be emergent gameplay or MinMaxing (as a more umbrella statement), but EG is definitely the correct term.

There are Meta builds but ESO doesn't have the fanbase that GW2 has to put that kind of effort into making a similar website. Also that site didn't just pop up when GW2 was released it took them a while to get it going; more than a year if I remember correctly.

The community here is small enough that people actually try to keep their optimal builds a "secret" for a while until people eventually just figure it out themselves through word of mouth or while out fighting. GW2 setups are also a lot more "fixed" in the sense that you are locked in to 5 abilities based on your weapon type, unlike the original Guild Wars where meta builds were much more a thing because of subclasses, stat points and 8 skillslots you could put anything into.

The BEST way to find builds is start following the popular streamers and just see what they run and experiment with what works for you. Even in GW2meta's there are always variations on what you can do so don't feel like you need to run the same build as the "best" players. I see it all the time in cyro; groups of gankers all running 1vX builds but they can't actually fight anyone 1vX so they end up ganking people 8v1 and your death log is 3 different crit rushes, 2 snipes and a crystal frag. ie. builds don't make the player, learn how to play first.

I came up with my builds through duels and testing, sorting out what's useless and finding out what I really need.

There should be a small scale arena so I can actually test real fights.

Also, point was, that level 14 guy, he was hardly taking any damage at all, he wasn't dodge rolling nothing, he was just eating it all. On the other hand, he dealt good amount of damage.

He had all the right skills being in used. If there was small scale pvp I'd be able to figure them out too, but it takes a lot longer doing everything the hard way, and not using a previous known build and known skills that are actually worth it in this game.

In most games, there's a lot of skills that just suck, and this game is no exception. I need to avoid those skills.

As was said, play the game and figure out what works for you, nothing else will help. Even an Arena won't tell you wether the skills you chose work for open world PvP.

Well if the L14 wasn't dodging and not taking any (or little) damage as you say then they were probably block/casting combined with damage shields.

This is a technique where you can do damage without exposing yourself to very much damage. With Champ Points + the right gear an experienced player could sustain his shields combined with block casting and easily win 1v3 against inexperienced players without taking much damage.

So you want to learn techniques and not necessarily just builds. Research the following key topics:

    - Block/Casting
    - Weaving
    - Sustain builds

So I was looking on Youtube since nobody would really help me out besides telling me "Learn to Play".
Think I would consider this a meta build.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhDhBRL9-SE

I was using dual wield and restoration staff, probably main reason why I was hardly killing anyone.
But now I play 2 hand, hand and shield. I'm doing incredibly better, even in PvE too.

Whenever I die to someone I see them use hand and shield, those good players that take on 3 or 4 people at a time. As for greatsword, I just love that bum rush, uppercut and that skill that does damage to wounded combo. Havent really figured out how to use the sword and shield, like combos and such quite yet.

But if anyone is like myself and looking for meta builds too and play dk. That build in that video is really good, play that build.

I really do wish people on these forums would be more helpful, rather than telling me to learn to play, and "oooh they just beat you because they know how to play.." ya they know what build to use, rather than me using a crappy setup.

I would suggest you spin 60 minutes on a website and read up on the gear and then read up on all the skill and passives available to you. Then you can make any build you want.

so didnt feel like reading all the comments so excuse me if this is a repeat.

1.)armor does not matter besides some armor which gives passive abilities (i.e. night silence which gives non movement speed penalty when sneaking, or willows path which gives 15 percent increase in all regen) other than passives increase in magika, stam, health, recovery, weapon damage, etc (except crit which will stack) will not be increased. essentially you can run around naked and still dominate.

2.) although he is lvl 14 he can have champ points from vet toons that can be used to increase stats.

3.) also, color of armor does not matter (see reasons in number 1).

My advice would be to look at crafted sets to get the passives and crit. just google eso armor sets. I am a firm believer that the skills u use are based on how you like to play. as long as u use some cc abilities use what you find to be comfortable. also, dont forget to eat food or drink drinks which will increase stats.

personally, i like to stack regen in non-vet. i run med and light armor for the decrease cost passives and regen passives. i also use willows path armor set to increase regen and use magika/ stam drink. also, use my temp passive skill to increase regen. Lastly, have champ points in regen. my magika regen is 1600 and stam regen is 1500. i would also suggest putting decrease cost of abilities on jewelry. this will help drastically.
