Honestly, I feel like this is something that will be made exclusive only to vet levels- don't get me wrong, after all the work they put into leveling, they deserve a reward -but it makes me worry that those who don't want to level to vet will be left out of this plan altogether.

I'm all for working for a good reward, but frankly I have never been able to force myself to be excited about doing vet ranks, and have never found a good cause for doing them myself, although this is just a preference of my own. In short, I just hope that they make this available to all level players, vet or not, via not various challenging achievements.
Since they're removing Vet Ranks I think it would be unlikely that this would be exclusive to them.

A lot of people went bonkers when armor dyes were announced because they thought everyone would be running around in neon clown colors. I very seldom see this in game and I don't think it will be any different with weapons/shields. The bright colors used in the illustration are likely just that- an illustration of the different areas in which weapons can be dyed.

Well I've heard talk of Vet Ranks still being a bit of a debate.

To correct what I've said: it'd just be nice to see that there would be a variety of dyeable weapons for most levels (say after levelling up a minimum of 5 times, new dyable items begin to drop, rarity and style depending on if you got them through questing dungeons or trials, etc).

Thanks for the correction though. Is the removal of Vet ranks confirmed yet?

Theoretically yes, it is confirmed. They have said many times that they do plan to remove Vet Ranks, but have given no details yet on what that will actually involve.

I just don't see the point of this. Shields I could understand, but weapons are so small and have so few "dye-able" parts that it feels like it would be a completely wasted feature.

You might have a point, altough it's sometimes rather irritating to wield pure red/reddish staff (specifically V16 Daedric style staff) while the rest of your armor is black/white. I even spent quite amount of gold for recrafting a V16 staff purely because of the color not fitting my armor, lol.

I disagree. A two handed weapon is bigger than all armour pieces except for the chest and legs and actually has a predefined colour pattern. It needs a dye option.

I hate the look of voidsteel and rubedite swords. I just don't like the rough red and purple look of it. I want my swords to be shiny and smooth silver or gold coloured.

Weapon dyes better be in before costume dyes. Been waiting since armor dyes for weapon dyes and they promise weapons along with shield dyes and then they said weapon dyes have to be delayed a few weeks after shield dyes due to more weapons and hey been few weeks since shield dyes and still no weapon dyes. Sorry but tired of a giant red metallic sword on the back of my lore friendly color armor (different grey tints with brown leather).

Sorry but this isn't beetleborgs no reason for even wood and leather to have metallic purple or green tints.

This will be the death of weapons.......get it? ;)

But seriously, those look like crazy weapons from Borderlands. I'm not sure I want people running around with neon weapons as well as armor, thanks.

@MrDerrikk The red, green, and blue of the weapons in the pic are just showing the dyeable zones of the weapon, not an example of a dyed weapon

It's bad enough this thread got necro'd from back in May but it was necro'd in vain. Zenimax stated in a Live that we will not be getting the ability to dye our weapons. They said it the same time they stated Shield dyeing was coming.

Because some of them can clash terribly with armor - especially for folks who are dyeing their armor. Anyone who uses a bow and has seen some of the strong splashes of color on the quivers can attest to this.

I do hope, however, that this ability to dye weapons is for ALL weapons, and not just the special ones that will be available in the next trial.
