Mounts - Are they really worth the price?

Echo_Silence
So this is gonna be about the mounts that they are coming out with for a limited time only. The mounts usually cost around $20.00 - $25.00 (2500 Crowns). In my opinion they are worth the price. If you look at other MMO's like WoW, And other games. The price is about $20.00 which is the same cost of the Limited Time only mounts. I've seen people complaining about it but it's not really a big deal. I like to buy the mount to get it as a cosmetic and I like to support them for development in future updates. I'm just curious what are your opinions about the price of the mounts?

It's a matter of choice and priority. If someone really wants that skin for their mount they will shell out the $. Otherwise they won't. Win/win for all.

sorry but im not clicking any unknown link in some public forum lol.

    on topic, no.

there's already mounts u can get in-game without spending a single crown.

having crown store specific is a pure cash grab, not that anything wrong with it.

but im not spending 20 bucks for a slightly different color of a horse...

As it's a cosmetic item, it's worth whatever people are willing to pay. If all you care about is having a functional mount, then it's not worth the price of the crown store ones, because even a level 3 character can get 10K gold in a few days at an hour or two a day (through stealing and selling to a fence), so there's no need to spend any real money on a mount.

As the Crown Store mounts are cosmetic items, though, the prices are whatever someone is willing to pay for the way it looks. Personally, if I think the mount in question is cool enough, I can justify spending 2500 Crowns on it, but at that price point it's anything but an automatic purchase for me.

When the senche leopard mount came out, I liked it and thought it was very cool. I hemmed and hawed about whether it was cool enough for it to be worth 2500 Crowns to me, though, because the striped senche that I already had was better for my main khajiit character anyway. I had enough Crowns sitting in my account to buy it, but in the end I decided that particular mount wasn't cool enough to be worth spending that much on for me personally.

I rarely use my horse at all. I find that I miss too much.

That said, aside from the Imperial mount that came with my game I have bought several other ones and some pets. It's kind fun to bring them out in town. 700-900 crowns is a good price. I won't spend 2500 on a mount though.

This ^^^ It's all a matter of opinion, like the old saying. "One mans trash is another mans treasure" I never under stand why these questions get asked in the forums, when it is 100% personal choice, if I want one no amount of nay Sayers or haters are going to change my mind and the same goes if I don't want a popular item no amount of white knighting and fandom is going to make me buy one.

I'm a sucker for certain cosmetic items, and the flaming mount was one of these... completely unnecessary in any but a visual sense, but I figured, hey, it looks cool and why not support the game a bit now that it's FTP, so I shelled out for the crowns I needed in addition to the ones I already had. So far I've no regrets, and I suppose that means it was worth it—to me.

I am starting to find that my White Imperial Horse is getting less common now, so I am seeing little reason to apply a skin to it.

I got a Guar, because well, I have always wanted one. However I never ride the thing.

Not shelling out the money or crowns for a special time limited mount. If I get a feline mount for a loyalty reward I will gladly take it, but otherwise the base Horse is good enough for me.

I think players enjoy riding unique mounts. Riding around in something that everyone shares makes it ... less special to most players. Therefore, the price needs to be high to keep such cosmetic items "special." I think the price of 25 bucks is about right for a Crown Store mount.

I would not pay $25 for a limited edition cat mount that's a different color/pattern than the one I already have.

I would, however, pay $25 to float through Tamriel a few feet off the ground cradled in the tentacles of a giant netch.

It's really a matter of personal preferences.

The fact that other games charge similar prices doesn't mean it's worth that.

Multiple fashion designers make over-priced clothes, but that doesn't make them suddenly all reasonably priced (and IMO neither does the fact that people are willing to pay it) and the same goes for mounts.

I spent my free crowns early on and was expecting to buy more fairly soon, but so far everything they've brought out that interests me has cost more than I think it's worth (except the Palomino). It's actually quite frustrating.

I think mounts should be sold in auctions. In each round (say one week) players would place bids on limited number of mounts (of one or more types) and top bidders (up to number of mounts available) would get them. Unsold animals would be either humanely put to rest or distributed among the poor, they too have to eat something after all.
That way, each player that would get a mount would pay exactly as much as he wanted.

All your comments are very interesting to see. I only wanted to post this because I wanted to see what other peoples opinions on this are. I didn't post it cause I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy the cosmetics. But I like your answers. Like I said above I am cosmetic junky. I like to buy every possible cosmetic in the game. Same goes with unlocking all the achievements and completing all the quests. But anyway everyone has there own opinion and I wont judge that's why this post is here to see what people think about it. :)

Question, if the mounts are costing 2500 crowns, which is a little less then $25, what is the new content going to cost? $60 or more?

How much was an expansion pack for Skyrim? $15 dollars right? these prices are way out of wack imo.

If you're going to buy one and use it as your only mount all the time, then buying your favorite skin for $25 isn't bad at all.

Don't buy it because it's limited. Buy it because you want it as part of your daily gaming experience. Otherwise that's $25 non-refundable dollars just sitting in your collections tab that could have been spent on pizza.

If you * (by 'you' I mean anyone who has a problem with it, not the OP) * don't want to spend actual money in the form of crowns, then don't - you can still get horses for in-game gold at a stable. (Cheapest one is I think 10k which is an easy amount of in game gold to raise).

The mounts in the shop are just cosmetic.
