So, this isn't meant in a malicious way or anything along those lines, just simply curious. Also, this might have already been answered before and I just missed it.

Why do we need to wait until, I believe it was a month(?), after consoles launch before we get new content? The game is awesome and all, but its really lacking in new content, and a cosmetic shop can only go so far before even that gets boring since it really isn't playable content.

Most likely counting that and waiting for input from what they are hoping will be a massive amount of new players, so they know what to do next.

    Hopefully ZoS answers

I wouldn't be surprised if there is animosity between console players and PC players given that console is the one and only reason we are waiting for content.

I'll think you will find it's longer than a month......

I believe they said end of 2015 for new content!!

Lets hope release doesn't show up any major issues, so they can continue their work on new content. :)

    Not good reading :(

I am estimating nothing new before the 4th quarter.

I am not really annoyed at the people playing consoles themselves, more at ZOS for deciding to halt any new content for months and months so they can focus on this console release. Leads me to believe they are operating with a small development crew.

Why do we need to wait until, I believe it was a month(?), after consoles launch before we get new content?

Because once console versions are released ZOS will want the exact same updates on all formats to keep the game identical (makes sense); In order to achieve this, they have to wait for quantitative and qualitative response to the game from consoles' markets. Makes sense too. And then they'll have to polish / finetune the new content (as far as we know, Imperial City), that's nearly ready, according to those 2 factors.

I would not hope for anything new before august on PTS and september on live, at best.

If you make the best out of what is already there, enjoy the social bonds that you've already made in the game (guilds, etc...) and be a little bit creative, you can still play without being bored. Like for instance respec stamina instead of your too-well known magicka build, or vice versa, go trial without armor ar arena all werevolves, or whatever.

Likewise, you can go play another game and come back when new stuff is out.

I fear a huge drop in players starting tomorrow...

QA department is not large enough to do the pre-release testing for console and updates for PC/Mac at the same time. Once that is done, they will be testing console patches. When console settles down, they can start to test updates for PC/Mac/PS4/XB1.

I honestly part of it is those of us who are going to play both on console and PC and are getting account copies. If they released a DLC now, we could buy that DLC and have it both places... but having only paid once. I'm not saying that's the entire reason, but I'm sure it was part of it.

And that worked really well in the past - for PC alone.

There will be nothing new for PC before X-mas sales time. Nothing at all.
And if we are very lucky we might even get a few bugfixes before December.

They won't sell the game to another company because it is all tied up in the Elder Scrolls IP. The best they could do is just hire a company to work on it, but they already have one, so I don't see this as likely.

I am telling you, there is a major update in development right now. Most fixes are being put into that update and only the easy and high priority fixes are getting put in the incremental patches. What we are seeing here is the water receding before the big wave comes in. I am actually a little surprised that they are doing incremental patches, even small ones.

It may not matter when they introduce more actual content. Many of the stronger players I run with have left the game. The more that leave the more this game becomes like swtor.

I am wondering since TESO is not a mere port which works on all systems how they will create new content.

Will they first create it for PC and then later try and make it work for consoles?
Will they create it simultanously (or however you write it) and release it all together?
Will the do console first and PC last?

Also how will this affect content speed. I haven't waited for content this long in a mmo since Tabula Rasa (and to be fair Vanguard but at least they had some content)

The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Like any dlc content it is often done on all systems at once and side by side, the reason why some systems gets different things is marketing and/or deals, not that it is done at different times. The only time I have seen it delayed solely because of a system was with the first couple of skyrim dlc and that was ps 3, cause it had problems

But good questions on who will get things first, picture it will come down to marketing in this case.

    But hopefully they will answer

Most likely resource distribution. They probably have the vast majority of their people working on the console version, since it was suppose to have been released last year; I think June 2014 but definitely in the Fall of 2014. They are trying to make good on their promise.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out with Windows 10 on the PC and on Xbox One with Universal Applications. If ZOS moves ESO over to Universal Apps it will be easier for them to add DLC on two of the three systems.

Possibly. But that doesn't mean we are going to see it anytime soon. Even after a large content upgrade is officially announced, it's still months before it's actually implemented. It's pretty standard operating procedure to announce new content and let the build up stew for a while before it's actually released. Sometimes several months. And we haven't even gotten any official announcement yet.

It will be a long time before we hit "play" on any significant new content.

ZOS should of been putting out new content on a regular basis to keep the game interesting and fresh. They have not and don't expect anything new i.e adventure zones in the near future. I don't think the console players are the problem for the lack of new content. After leveling three different characters thru ESO the game has become boring and a waste of my time and money. I like many others have dropped subscriptions. Now I just scan the forums to see if anything has changed and will return if and when new content is added.
