Why isn't every one a Werwolf or Vampire?

wilsonirayb16_ESO
Skills, stat bonuses and a money making method (biting) are just some of the benefits of being WW/Vamp. Meanwhile there are little downsides, no real restrictions to how you can play and the game world/lore treat you as just another player without obstruction.

So where is the catch? Why isn't every one either WW/Vamp when bites are virtually free now?

Vamps are more fun in my opinion but they are just way to flammable.

if all it takes is a match stick to waste me I'm just not going to do it.

Werewolves have to short a timer for it to be worth my time. If I can only beast out for 5 seconds then I just don't want it.
The ability should at least last a minute.
This is were my signature would be if I was allowed one.

I tried them both. WW first, and it just seemed meh, and it was always bugging out (this was a yr ago). And vampire... oh vampire...I just couldn't look at myself without a full helmet, so I had to become human again. I spend a decent amount of time creating toons that are easy on the eyes, but vampirism is just so ugly, I couldn't deal.

You get a 15% stamina rec bonus just for being a werewolf, you dont even need to have the ultimate slotted.

I'm glossing over the latter stage penalties, because people don't let it go that far on average - and reducing the rank/stage is easy enough to do.

This sounds more like a PVP issue, and I am speaking more from an adventure/PVE/lore/mechanics points of view.

Vampires are ugly. Also, RP reasons. Even with a free stamina regen boost, I simply don't want to be a werewolf. :)

I am looking for more logic/practical/mechanics reasons. There must be some real deterrent that I am unaware of, that discourages people.

I can't believe the discussed minor nuisances, like how they look or 'RP,' are enough to out weigh the benefits the forms provide.

    - Claims it is a money-making method.
    - Claims it is "virtually free now".

    404 Error: Logic not found.
Jokes aside... Many people don't like the the looks or negatives to being a vampire simply not worth it. Why everyone isn't a werewolf is beyond me. The werewolf offers a 15% stamina bonus with zero negatives, nothing required. Unlocks upon finishing the quest. That alone provides a useful bonus over any non-werewolf/ vampire player.

I personally like vampires, but I haven't used it much yet. I'm looking forward to making the most of the abilities with my Nightblade. I have yet to try werewolf out but I'll probably try for it on a stamina focused character, for the bonus if nothing else.

I'm pretty sure the "minor nuisances" are the best explanations that you are gonna get

I have several alts, and only recently have I decided to make one a vampire, just to try it (I mad her specifically with vamp in mind). But the idea of being a vamp or WW just doesn't appeal to me. There may be some bonuses involved, but alas I am sticking with the "RP" reason for not making all my alts vamp/ww

I have no idea why would anyone want to become vamp with fire damage everywhere and reduced health regen. Wherewolf is awesome, 15% free stamina regen and you can totally forget that you even have it.

With so many PVP centric players in this game, I find it hard to believe that they'd pass up obvious bonuses simply because their character doesn't look a certain way. And for PVE, any time you have a modern MMO where you can be something big, badass or 'cool' looking, people will flock to it - foregoing any concern about penalties or mechanics.

I made a conscious decision that my character would not be either - just because that's the way I wanted to play.

I think that it would be nice to have a skill line only available to the 'pure', those that weren't infected. The obvious one would be the Fighters Guild; since the guild exists to hunt vampires, werewolves and daedra it makes sense that those choosing to become a vampire or lycanthrope should be barred from the guild (regaining skills points to spend in their new skill line). It would be a bit harsh though to enforce this so late in the day, so perhaps a Vigalents Of Stendar skills line (or something similar) might be added.

When i first started to play in early april 2014, it was my dream to become a vampire.
It was cool, when i get my 10th vampire level, i was able to stay between 3 enemies and almost drain them to death.
Now it's just 10% magicka recovery and weak faith in a good vampire's future.

I made a dark elf specifically for vampire, I didn't make it to lvl 30 before feeding every 30 min to look semi normal became more tedious than worth it and she hit the delete bin.

I have a v1 I made for tank, who is also a WW for regen purposes, but its not really my play style and haven't touched her since pre 1.6. She is too pretty to delete lol, eventually I'll find use for her I'm sure as she is an Imperial DK. What is funny is I kept her WW secret when it happened and and had a guildie bite me on the down low :D

I'm not into RP at all, or PVP, so...being a dog or walking can of gas just doesn't appeal to me in game play. As healer I really hated taking vamps into vet dungeons, so there's that too. Its just not for me. (as to why all my toons aren't one or the other)

I mean from a build standpoint sometime the perks just aren't worth the weaknesses. My Sorcerer for example is very magicka efficient and doesn't really gain any benefit from stealth, so why take all that fire weakness that I'd have to give up jewelry slots to mitigate, for a little more regen. Not worth.

    Thats just my two Septims.

Or maybe you are the opposite kind of person and anything the crowd is doing you are not going to do just because??? My husband didn't think it very funny I kept calling him sheeple for riding the not so special, anyone can buy "loyalty" mount either B) but to each their own.

    1. Biting is not a money making method, it's been provided free by most guilds and people around the shrines.

    2. Amount of people using Fighter's Guild skills like silver leash and flawless dawnbreaker has increased a lot.

    3. Fire damage in pvp is a real pain.

    4. Fire damage in dungeons is a real pain. In some group instances especially when your healer is not a good one; vampires tend to affect the whole group progress by staying dead the whole fights.

Despite all mentioned above and many that I can not remember right now; there is a lot of Vamp and WW with "uninfected" folk.

Preference, priorities, if you play the game for roleplaying, immersion or lore-seeking reasons, and have a backstory, personality and such developed for your character, being a werewolf or vampire might not fit with that character. Stats and bonuses aren't important enough to breach that, at least for some of us.

You might think it silly to hinder oneself for roleplaying or character backstory/personality reasons, but to some of us, well, we really couldn't care less about the bonuses honestly.

I ran a vampire and werewolf themed guild for a while (since launch — it's just a small group of friends now), aside from 1 individual every single person who joined and was bitten cured vampirism in 1 to 2 weeks. The reasons were twofold: Fire and ugly. Everyone. Period.

Basically no-one wanted a werewolf bite because of how broken and incomplete they were prior to the recent changes, but lately the interest in werewolves has seemed to have increased.

You continue to discount those two reasons for not becoming a vampire, but I have had a front-row seat to it and have been a vampire myself since the game launched, and it really is as simple as that. Fire is everywhere in this game, and people WILL *** at you for dying to it when in a group. Some groups will not even invite a vampire. Then the looks: I enjoy the way mine look, but most players I've known did not enjoy the looks of their vampires nearly as much.

Then there are the people I've talked to who refuse to even consider the idea of vampire due to those who exploited certain mechanics and bugs with bats and such earlier on before those bugs were addressed.

I can't speak for ww but it's a pain in the royal ass keeping your vamp levels down while in cyrodil. When you have marathon PvP sessions no one likes disengaging from the fights to find an npc to feed on.

In practical terms, the fire damage is too high. With everyone running around as a dk, fire trebuchets doing 25k damage, and the slotting of fighters guild skills it's an instant death sentence.

It seems more worth it in pve but because there are so many eliteist jerks out there, you run into getting kicked from groups because your build is too prone to fire and is not optimal in someone else's eyes.
