Ring of Mara- do both players need to be in the same zone?

I've seen some varying answers to this.

I understand you need to be grouped with your in-game "spouse", but do you need to be grouped AND in the same area? Or can you be anywhere in Tamriel and still get the XP bonus?

Has anyone tested this out, or know for certain? Thanks!!!!

If you are not getting any exp from eachother's kills, you are too far. You can look at the party box on the left side of the screen. If a person's name fades, they are too far.

You need to be in the same zone and somewhat near each other for it to work.

From my understanding (which seems to be borne out by the small amount of experimenting I've done with it) you need to be grouped, in the same zone, and close enough that you would already be getting the 2-person group bonus XP (so relatively close, but not necessarily right on top of each other).

actually no, i did some testing and so long as the two are in a group the ring grants the XP (both have to be online of course)

Why couldn't the Khajiit go to the party? She had to be Elsweyr.

What happens if the other player takes off the ring?

Do you lose your house, your kids, and half your stuff?

My wife complains that I never listen to her. (Or something like that.)

    ... or your mount LoL...

In keeping with the fantasy land that is Tamriel, there are no unfortunate ramifications to taking off your pledge ring. You may even have several rings (and partners) though keeping them sorted and reaping those extra benefits are on you. ;)

Hopefully the xp gain will be fixed in a future patch, as it is not currently 10% (multiple tests done, tickets submitted) and not worth taking off my good enhanced jewelry for.

    Nice one. :)

But no, you don't...however, taking off the ring makes inter-species (as well as conventional) dating a little less complicated.

We might if we weren't forced to be homeless, infertile drifters.
