PvP tutorial quest...

...should NOT be allowed to skip if it's your first time in Cyrodiil. Much like the intro area to playing the game, you have to play it through the first time, but you can choose to skip it if you make a new toon.

I am completely lost in Cyrodiil as to what to do or repair keeps, etc. The only reason I chose to skip the training, is because it's what I thought I had to do, as the other person who gives the training was quite a ways away (I found out later) as opposed to the person who allows you to just skip it, which is just across the path. :/

I'm going to go out on a limb and *assume* that training quest has some quite valuable information in it, so those new to the zone wouldn't be quite so lost if they had to undergo it. But because of my total newb move of blindly turning in a quest (go figure), I really shorted my team, and prevented myself from being useful for the time being until I figure things out.

Thankfully ESO has a pretty mature player-base, so people are happy to help and let you know what's up if you're willing to ask. Unfortunately, I have to ask - or look it up online (which I think should be unnecessary) - so I'm 'that' guy. It was my mistake though, so I'll do what I can to make the best of it.

Ultimately, though, I think we shouldn't be allowed to skip that training at all unless we've been through it on a different toon. :/

Just my two cents.

The tutorial is okay, but nothing will beat months-long experience on the field.

The tutorial has some of the basics - it essentially shows you how to use and repair siege weapons, and tells you what types of quests are available from the boards.

I think it's worth doing as soon as you hit level 10 even for people who aren't really going to PVP, because it's pretty fast and easy, and it gives you somewhat decent rewards.

OP, in the settings, there is actually an option to RESET TUTORIALS.

Don't know if it works for Cyro, but might be worth a shot.

Otherwise, just level up a character to 10 real quick and go through it. It mostly covers siege and siege repair. (Doesn't even cover placement).

Sure there is likely a youtube video somewhere. If not, just ask a few questions in guild chat (zone chat will likely get stupid) and someone can show you the ropes.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

I've taken every single character I've made to do the Alliance War tutorial as soon as I reach level 10, whether I intend to use the character for PvP or not...

15 minutes for 2 skill points? Yes. Every time.

Exactly. I don't PVP with any of my characters, but they've all done the tutorial quests for that reason (and also it gives you a semi decent amount of gold, some XP, and Rewards for the Worthy). And they've grabbed a few skyshards while they're at it.

Training quest doesn't teach you much. Slot the wall repair kits where you would normally slot a potion, walk up to the wall and use them like you normally would a potion.

    Tks,
I'm thinking trying PvP this afternoon. Should I go for guest, just to get the feeling?

You should definitely do the quest, because it's fast and easy and you get rewards for doing it. It also teaches you the basics of how to use siege weapons and repair kits. Just go to Cyrodiil and the first time you're there a quest giver will appear to give you the quest.

    What this guy said.

Tutorial may teach you how to get a few AP by killing players...

Veteran experience teaches you how to get few THOUSAND or TEN THOUSAND AP by not pursuing the enemy and staying around for the D tick.

There's a reason why some players on leaderboards are clearly ahead of the pack... They are veterans. They know not to pursue and stick around for the D tick.

This game DOES NOT teach newbies about how to earn AP, ways of EARNING AP. DOES NOT explain earning AP to them.

    ...

The sheep eat grass for +3 AP a piece x 20.. They keep chasing the line of grass that leads out of the farm... They get +3AP x 4 of the remaining grass they eat.. Lo and behold there's a black sheep, the black sheep COLLECTS the 2000 AP D tick by not chasing along with the rest of the herd. Obviously the herder rewarded that sheep.

The piggies hole themselves up in the tower... The unpatient big bad wolves flip the flag because they think it'll blow the tower down... The piggies are now inside a impenetrable tower and farm all the big bad wolves for hours.. Piggies run out when its safe, flips flag... Collects MASSIVE O Tick. (EP are the best piggies when it comes to this).

I didn't even know there was a tutorial quest, and I definitely would have done it had I known. I saw some quest markers right when I arrived, that were telling me to like go across the map and do some of the PvE parts of Cyrodiil. I'll have to check into resetting my quests to see if I missed something.

When I got to Cyrodiil, I was so effing lost as to what to do, not even talking about getting a siege and using it. I mean, I didn't see anyone or know what to do, so I just wandered around, walking from place to place (until I realized they had those quick link things). I accidentally came across an enemy person and killed him. I had no idea where to go, where the action might be, where my alliance mates might actually be doing stuff. The few times I wandered anywhere near an enemy base or an anchor, 5-10 NPCs killed me almost instantly.

I'll try it again tonight, but my first trip into Cyrodiil was a boring failure.
