Well, I'm not going to vote on this poll because I'm really not a PVP player, and so any vote that I gave would therefore be horribly uninformed. I'll leave it to the PVPers to vote on what they think is good for PVP.
I will say that I am firmly of the opinion that the PVP crowd needs some attention. Aside from balancing issues, there really hasn't been a whole heck of a lot done for PVP since release.
Nah, I think an uninformed vote is worse than no vote at all (that's how certain terrible terrible politicians end up in office... Not naming any names, but as a Canadian let's just say I'm unhappy with some of our leadership), and frankly I just don't know enough about PVP to be informed, and I don't care enough about it to do the research. I want there to be more stuff for PVPers to do, because I think catering to the different portions of the player base is good for the game, but I'm hardly in any sort of position to say what would actually be good for PVP and what wouldn't...Well, I'm not going to vote on this poll because I'm really not a PVP player, and so any vote that I gave would therefore be horribly uninformed. Just look at GW2, ArenaNet designed an entire game mode for that and poured all their heart into it. Players still barely noticed and it certainly isn't the reason for the game's success.
Now consider how many resources Zenimax could realistically throw at small scale PvP...Even if there wasn't a mile long backlog of other things promised.
It's ok bud everyone can have an opinion and i choose to believe that this will go a long way to helping eso even if it is just dueling brought in.

Personally I'd like to see a system like Warhammer had, with small scale PvP maps tying into the greater AvA effort ( basically your faction had to score a certain amount of points in the Cyrodiil like mass PvP areas plus the mini games, capture the flag, king of the hill, etc, to unlock access to the imperial city. The maps and variety of game modes in WAR was great ).
That game is dead though.
The reality is that PvPers are a minority in theme park games and implementing something like WAR's small scale maps would take serious effort and resources Zenimax evidently do not have available.
I Want it ALL!!!

Last I had heard it was a distinct project. If it even happens at all.

No no no no.
FFS, go play literally any other MMO already. They all have this.
And why not make the poll options clear? What you're really asking is if people want arenas/battlegrounds but your poll options are vague enough that someone could vote for "Yes" because they like finding small skirmishes in Cyrodiil.
But really, this subject is ridiculously old.
And no.
PVP is the main reason i un-installed the game along with the unlogic math behind the skills (imo). Too much critical for instance; 1-3 seconds kills; one-shot-kills; or healing is as easy as damaging ( i have the feeling), which should not be so... healing is always more difficult (mathematically) than damaging (just like real life); aoe-spam-dmg-kind of fights (for zerg's sake)
too little diverstiy in general, just those keeps, farms and that's it... too boring
plus the long distances; no resurecction on spot (on your own) > no 2nd round if ganked...
there is no way to test builds... ofc some might say, "go to cyrodil" (..and wait 30 mintues for one 1-3-second-test, and get killed by two or more guys?) they say "your fault if you don't team up.. it's a social game..."
it just does not work like this imo, if you can compare with other games..
i also don't like that one good player can survive 4 normal players and kill them (math-problem> balance etc..)
i dont like that executes (radiant destruction) downed my hp me with 17500 dmg when i was at 85% hp , where 100% hp was around 22000.
overall unacceptable conditions in cyrodil for a healthy and fair and enjoyable pvp experience.
I usually enjoy the smallscale PVP in other games, even if I'm not very good at it. But i enjoyed battleground a lot in WOW, SWTOR, GW2 and Wildstar.
I don't like arenas, but that's just me who prefer casual PVP style, 'cause I'm bad. But I've nothing against them implememented in game.
However, in ESO.... I don't think this would be great nor fun. Or rather, this will only be fun for very good, and experimented players, and for everyone else it will be an endless source of frustration.
I've realised recently the gap between the skills (or capabilities to masterise and play your character) in PVP is huuuuge. Casual pvp players that have more or less no clue of what they are doing, copy-paste builds from other players but can't play them, or just play with their Dungeon or Questing build have no chance against players that truelly masterise their character. In games like WOW, and the likes, the game balance the classes, and while there is still gap between players skills, the gap is more forgiving, and casual players can have their fun, train themselves and becoming better.
In ESO, I do not see this happening. The skills difference is too huge, hidden game mechanic such as animation canceled and others, and the infinite possibilities to build characters, will create an immence gap between good players and bad players, and small scale PVP will only be fun for one part of the population.
So I don't know really... I think if a system like this was ever implemented in ESO we would need to be sure that casual players could enjoy themselves as much as true PVPers. Maybe organise some "training ground" where players can just experiment themselves without getting any reward, encourage true pvpers to get into the other battleground to get rewards, and/or compete with others.

All good smallscale pvp ideas. What i usually do is take a resource and wait for someone to retake it 9 out of 10 times theres a zerg showing up and i die.
Pirhana7_ESO wrote: »The problem is too many recent games held your hand to create a specific battle for you like area matches and now people don't seem to know how to find the fight they want unless it is created for you. Too often i see the "I dont like Cyrodiil because I dont like zergs or massive battles, I want 1v1 or 4v4"
Well everything you want is actually in Cyrodiil, you just need to know where to find it. All the 1v1 and skrimishes are there, just dont expect them if you follow the zerg or go to keep seiges and defenses. You can find these 1v1 everywhere between hotspots and port routes, these are also in the towns that gives quests. if you want 4v4 again these are there, groups will roam on the edge of hot spots and supply lines, just take a roaming group out and you will find these. if you want to gank or have the opened pvp server feel again these are there, go to teh enemies terrtory and roam dungeons and quests locations.
The only requirment is you have to play on the main campaign which is generally the full one with a que,

By voting yes, you vote for to Arena PVP actually as per post.
Go play another game if you want this feature.
FFS is not something you didn't knew since 2012 that this game ain't going to have Arena PVP.
shoo shoo. you destroy a damn good game.
SAY NO TO WOW CLONING
