I want to buy my friend crowns

I want to buy my friend some crowns for his birthday but I wasn't sure how to do it. I am guessing I will need to purchase a 30 day subscription card and give that to him so when he redeems it he will be allotted his set amount of crowns for renewing his subscription. Does anyone know where I can find the prepaid cards so I can give it to him in person? Walmart, Target, etc.. would be prefered.

MCMancub✭✭✭✭I do not think you need to have the Steam version of the game. It just gives you a code. Even if you do have the Steam version you still have to use that code by logging into elderscrollsonline.com and redeeming it.1

You do need to have the Steam version of the game, or you won't be able to apply the crown pack to your Steam account.
Yes I have been burned trying this and now have a crown pack I can't use. Fortunately it was only the cheapest one.
