Ummm, before the troll train rolls in....I like this idea but for me the damage would have to be completely reworked (possibly upped?) To adjust for the new !mechanic ...also a toggle to activate/deactivate the mod would be necessary
This is a long shot (no pun intended), but can we have actual aiming with the bow and staves? I want skill shots. Who agrees?
Absolutely. Current projectiles are just a visual effect.
I come from games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. where there is not even path-tracing, but the bullets themselves are mathematically modeled with muzzle velocity, gravity, wind resistance, weight, armor and material penetration properties. All that works.
Not saying that level is needed here, but some simple aim and gravity would be a huge addition.
This is a fall back of just about any Fantasy style game ever designed. I screamed about it hard in DAOC, it gave casters such an advantage. Frankly its a pipe dream. Not being a programmer, I dont know what it is. ZOS isnt going to take time to rework the game to account for true collison. We are not even talking about siege here, hit so many times by seige INSIDE a tower/keep.
ZOS is better off correcting the real oops we screwed up, like 360 block, perma block, perma dodge.
unless you want useless staffs and bows in game to never be used by any players, i would say no.
and yeah, as said above, CANNOT happen without a massive rework of the games engine, which is obviously never going to happen. It is not even a pipe dream of any sort, more of a delusion to think it could ever happen.
"FPS mechanics" are not likely to be implemented, unfortunately. However, I too would love it if they had developed a combat system more similar to elder scrolls gameplay rather than hotbars and active abilities that replace attacks.
Gameplay/balancing wise it would be fairly easy to give a +5% damage buff or whatever in the case you aimed correctly and leave the old system as it is.
