Hand Free Magic

Penguinturtle
In ESO,currently, you need a staff, to preform spells/magic. Now in Skyrim you never, ever needed a staff to preform magic. Now I do know that one of the Magic Ults allows this, but only for a duration. I,personally, want to see the Skyrim magic system reimplemented in ESO, I think that this would make the game more fun and you wouldn't have to get a staff. Does anyone else want this in ESO?

you have only played Skyrim, haven't you? Something i would like to point out, in Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion, spells/abilties were a seperate thing from your weapon, just like this game

most, if not all, class skills and mages guild abilities are magic, but do not need a staff to use them. you ARE expected to use weapons, not doing so would be suicidal and REALLY stupid of you to do.

now as far as not HAVING To wield a weapon at all and still be viable, it cannot happen, the system is built the way it is, cannot simply be changed like that.

I tend to think of it like this:

In ESO the Mages Guild has just recently been established so they have yet to develop the techniques for the every-man to wield magic without the use of staffs.

The issue I have is that EVERYONE is a mage in ESO. There is no way for a player to play sans magic.

It's too late now but I really wish the skills in ESO were more like "fire ball" for mages and "Heavy slash" for the knight.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

They can just call the weapon"Magic Hand". To keep staff prominent just make staff potency 2x greater or stronger like 2 hand over one hand. This is coming anyways in spellcraft later on anyway, isn't it?

........yes, because i can swap out my hand with another one........................

secondly, no, no it is not, spellcrafting (IF it ever actully comes) will just be like every otehr ability, one you put on the action bar to use alongside your weapons

you have also failed to realize what i said in my first post, that ONLY skyrim has the magic isntead of weapons thing. What they are doing now is actually MORE in line with TES games of the past then skyrim was in this case.

I want to cast spells with my hands !!

It would be great, but it would be also very good to incorporate it as something to be achieved by the Mages Guild, with a chain of missions and the need to seek inscriptions around the world, like............ Spellcrafting!

Maybe it would be a good idea used that original concept and adapt to the incorporation of spells to be cast with hands.

Unfortunately, when you unequip your weapons you revert to the silly boxing-stance, so even if you had a bar of spells not requiring a weapon you wouldn't want to do it. Overload does the same thing. Also, need a weapon to regen magicka/stamina.

also need a weapon for important things called stats and not being incredibly stupid.

be nice if the mages guild actually did anything useful aside from buffs and crappy dps support skills

I would just like alternate "weapons" to cast destruction or restoration magic. Wizards wands, spell foci, that sort of thing... just some more options beside staff.

ultimately the only think that irks me about teso implementation is that a plain 2 handed sword makes your spells do more damage... Unenchanted weapons should only affect damage dealt with the actual weapon itself.
If you want it to affect spells, whack an enchant on it, heck, add non-weapon items like foci that can be enchanted to enhance spell casting, but a plain iron sword should not affect your spell power.

id rather have a weapon style that is like a spell book, it will cover the elements, or possibly more.

im of a mind, and the previous installments support this, that a mage that NEEDS a staff is weak.
