Guild Bank Item Stacking fix, please?

saintofmirrors
So last year when I started playing and saw that the Guild bank did not sort item and stack them for you I thought, "Gee they will fix this soon I am sure". But here we are a year later and I have never ever seen anyone mention it. So please for the love of my sanity and the simple convenience of those of us who like a tidy inventory could you please look into a self sorting Guild bank? It doesn't have to be perfect. It can function just like the regular bank or my inventory but please have it stack items. Thanks!

The 'fix' is an add-on called Roomba. It will stack guild bank, and bag too now.

They got rid of the stacking feature for guild banks because it was allowing for a duplicating exploit. The community responded with the Roomba add-on which handles stacking, so there's no reasons for the developers to try to fix this. As they stated during the pre-release period, they're going to be as lazy as possible with the UI and let the modders fill in the gaps. I wonder how they're going to handle it on consoles though.

As I have stated in other posts about these same subjects, that's all well and good until the authors of the Add-ons get bored, angry, burned out, whatever and leave the game and stop updating their work.
Then the gaping holes in UI and functionality left by ZoS are broken again.

True, but ESO's generally been in population decline since Day 1 and most of the add-ons have been replaced or picked up by other modders when the original author leaves the game. If we get to the point where the modder population dies, I doubt they'll be any new updates to the game from ZoS anyway, because the population will be so low as to not warrant further investment.

First, no one but Zeni really knows what's going on with the population. It seems to go in waves, depending on what bonehead or decent change Zeni makes.
Second, the phase of modders picking up abandoned add-ons seems to be coming to a screeching halt. Recently Wykkyd and Katkat42 have announced they are leaving. Wykkyd found someone to pick up his projects. I'm not sure about Katkat42. Let's hope this isn't the start of a trend.
Your last point sounds about right. Zeni has shown not an iota of concern about what happens with the add-on community. They have ignored a multitude of pleas to address UI shortcomings. I see bleak times ahead if the console UI has the features we have been asking for. And what lesson will console users learn if Zeni is willing to shunt aside PC users, who invested a year or more into this game.
This particular issue of addressing guild bank stacking, which has been around forever, by leaving it to add-ons is a symptom of an illness Zeni refuses to tackle.

@Ourorboros the issue is that Zeni doesn't see it as an illness, but as a cost-cutting synergy, i.e. why spend money building what the player base will supply.

Sounds about right, but to paraphrase:

You don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with Jim your player base

In other words, Zeni's attitude could come back and bite them. They deserve it, IMO.

So if consoles can't run addons how are they doing the sort issue with consoles?

I am willingly being naive and hoping that Zeni is going to take their experience working on console and apply their new knowledge to PC.

Remember when they said the guild bank stacking being removed was a temporary fix until they can find a more permanent fix? Zeni has used that same argument for many, many band-aid fixes and it's really starting to affect the games quality of life.MMOs need good quality of life features to keep people around. Over time small little annoyances pile up and become too much of a hassle for many people to bother with.

I hope this is still on the cards.
With the console release, we have a ps4 guild and our bank is full in 3 days. Most items are duplicates.

WIth PC we've got the Roomba add-on.... THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH Wobin, Ayantir, CrazyDutchGuy!!!!

for the console folks....I feel really bad for you...before Roomba, I was the one in my guild that got to withdraw, stack, deposit 50 times a day since no one else would waste their time doing it. ....then they started all mailing me their worms and other junk(this was before fishing worked) just to aggravate me, as they knew it drove me nuts when the bank was full, and it was because so many things weren't stacked.

Last I remember, granted this was a month or two after PC release, was them saying that this was "a feature", not a bug.

This is the lowest on the totem pole of things ZOS needs to fix. Really there should be addons to fix this.
