Worms - Why Are They So Hard To Get?

As someone who fishes in this game and is hunting down the achievements I find that I never have enough worms (best for fishing the sea with.) All of the other common baits (ones you don't fish up) are very easy to go farming for, so perhaps ZOS could bump up the spawn rate for worms?

P.S. In before "There are way more important things they should be working on."

Nah, you work on the coolest title in the game. Worms drop from zombies I think, go kill them, even lower level ones should drop them.

They used to show up when harvesting alchemy ingredients... but I shall go try and kill some zombies (if I can remember where they spawn.)

This whole website is useful for fishing, but check out this page on it. There are certain baits that work best for certain water types. (You can learn this from a book in-game, but it is all on this website as well.)

First, I agree worms can be hard to come by, especially when you can go through hundreds of them for one fish. Honestly, the best you can do is buy them in guild stores. The price has gotten very reasonable. I just had a 200 stack expire. I still keep any worms I come across, though my fishing days are over. I sell them as soon as I get a full stack. Another plus to buying them is they can sit in your inbox for 30 days instead of using bag space. I never bought other bait, but worms are a different story. Too bad so many players discard them when they find them in plants.

edit: best zombie location is Vile Lab in Cold Harbour.

This is still the case. I would put a point into the Alchemy passive that helps you to spot plants just to help you get more worms, and sell the ingredients for pretty good cash that you can use to buy more worms from the guild stores.

lots of worms in crypts on undead if you useing lots you using the wrong bait. worms are for ocean waters, crawlers are for swamp waters, insects for rivers and guts for lakes. There is a book you found most likely you can look in your journal and it lists what bait to use were.

Zombie Road in Coldharbor is a good spot. It's over by the Vile Laboratory.

They are? I find them in reasonable quantities when harvesting plant or killing zombies.

The secret to finding worms is to *not* look for them. Go to Upper Craglorn and look for nirncrux and alchemy mats. You won't believe how many worms you'll find.

Yup plants and zombies, worms are actually what I have the most of, as well as crawlers (also found in plants). I've recently had to pick up more insects and guts as I just started to bother with fishing as well!

I went farming zombies for worms for a while recently. Worms and crawlers seem to drop from the same sources (plant nodes and zombies), except crawlers are more common, and additionally come from spiders, centipedes, and such, so I've always got way more crawlers than worms. Thanks to my recent farming, and just always making sure I keep every worm that drops, I've got a fairly decent supply right now though.

Actually, at the moment I've got fewer insect parts than anything else, although I know a good place to farm them, so I'll probably go and build up my supply there.

Due to going and slaughtering sheep on Khenarthi's Roost with 3 different characters, I've currently got an absolutely ridiculous amount of guts - I want to say about 12-14 full stacks (some of which still needs to be laundered).

Well, I believe I'm currently sitting on just over 1300 worms, so I would have that title...

Based on what I remember from when I was checking my supplies this morning I think I've got about:

1300 worms
2200 crawlers
900 insect parts
2800 guts

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am planning a major fishing expedition I'm also expecting that I'll give some of that bait out to guildies who come along if they don't have enough of their own.

Well, I've actually been gathering that for guild events - we've got a guild fishing event coming up tomorrow. Outside of those guild events (which are more about socializing than anything else), I really don't fish

There's "Grub Pot"s in the Argonian locations which hold random amounts of fishing bait. It looks like a basket with a wierd pattern on the lid. There may be different versions of it in other factions so keep an eye out for the term "Grub Pot"

There's one in the Argonian house in Coldharbour behind the bench next to the cook . That's how I found out.

I tend to get more crawlers than worms when out harvesting materials, but I get metric buttloads of worms whenever I have the opportunity to kill zombies and their ilk.

I didn't know about the grub pots, that's something I'll have to remember.

harvest plants ,they usually yield worms. i agree it's tough to find them,but also minnow or chub is not easy,and chub will serve u the same as it's also for sea fishing.
