Ornate Trait Items - Seen in Guild Stores...

I guess the title says it all - every now and then I come across guild stores which have items with the Ornate Trait for sale.
My question is: Why?
The only thing a player can do with a store-bought Ornate Trait item is selling it - mostly for much less than they paid for.

For the ones who aren't aware, I just want to point out that these traits are not the same as the "Fortify Barter" enchantment in Skyrim where you can sell ALL your stuff for X% more and buy for X% less when an item with this enchantment is equipped.
In ESO, only the items with the Ornate Trait have a higher value, this doesn't have any effect on your other items when you sell them.

Also, the Ornate Trait cannot be researched (too bad, actually, but we can't).
The Intricate Trait cannot be researched either, but that's the only one of these two traits which makes sense to sell in guild stores since they're useful for progressing in your crafting skill by deconstructing this item.

Thanks for reading :)

It doesn't make much sense but if people can sell them, some well. I guess just buyer beware.

Yes.. I just posted this in case some players don't know.
I remember when I started playing (beta/pre-launch), I didn't know either.. but could also have been a language issue on my end, back then ;)

These items are useless (except for the potatoes^^), no need to sell them in guild stores.
But with the Ornate Trait it's different, though, since I guess some players just don't know that this trait is only good for one thing: selling the item for a better price.

I have seen some of the goofiest things in guild stores. When we had the older foods I would see Congealed Soups for sale. I have seen base white weapon and armor loot. It's like some guild members were taking the adage, sell your excess stuff a little too seriously. I wonder if they realized they pay up front to list items in the guilds stores.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

If the item doesn't sell and is returned, I'm pretty sure the Guild Store fee is returned as well. Unless people are putting something in for a ridiculous amount of gold, most people aren't going to miss the few extra "tax" coins they're parting with as well.

This is the reason why I don't even bother with Guild Stores. The rare chance you find something useful, (who buys only one shadowhide?!), it's way overpriced. Don't know how Guilds can sink so much gold into the stalls.

This seems more than a little misguided. Guild stores are a great place to find things that you would be totally reliant for on RNG. Or from end game content or PVP drops that are beyond your characters abilities. I've seen the trash there too, but if someone is foolish enough to either buy or sell those items that's on them. It is not a comment on the quality of items in the guild stores. My last nirnhone research finishes tomorrow, and I bought most of the item from guild vendors. The experience is what you make it.

The listing fee is taken from you when you list the item, that is never returned. Otherwise you would see a gold amount in the email when the item times out. What you are not charged is the taxes that is further taken out of the transaction when it sells, as there is no transaction to tax.

What some don't seem to realize is, that some of the "ornate" stuff really shows this trait. They look marvelous and slightly changed from any coloring you can achieve by the dye system (at least as far as I have the colors unlocked).

Now I just need to put a ton of ornate stuff in the store for crazy prices and see who belives this...

I have to admit that on more than one occasion I've decided that I needed to decon an ornate item more than I needed the gold from selling it. Especially since jewelry crafting; I'd rather decon ornate rings than sell them. That will probably change as soon as I have the skill leveled, but in the meantime exp > gold.

An example: Platinum rings/necklaces with the ornate trait have been more valuable for buyers that want to level jewelry than the value of selling to a npc vendor. Not because of the ornate trait, they dont care for that, but just because you decon the ring. At some point the demand for these jewelry items will become so low that you'll get more for just vendoring them and then you'll stop seeing them sold in guild stores.
