Also, the Ornate Trait cannot be researched (too bad, actually, but we can't).

I have seen some of the goofiest things in guild stores. When we had the older foods I would see Congealed Soups for sale. I have seen base white weapon and armor loot. It's like some guild members were taking the adage, sell your excess stuff a little too seriously. I wonder if they realized they pay up front to list items in the guilds stores.

If the item doesn't sell and is returned, I'm pretty sure the Guild Store fee is returned as well. Unless people are putting something in for a ridiculous amount of gold, most people aren't going to miss the few extra "tax" coins they're parting with as well.
I guess the title says it all - every now and then I come across guild stores which have items with the Ornate Trait for sale.
My question is: Why?
Probably for the same reason you see Foul Hide in Guild Stores... Or Khajiit motifs for 5000 gold - people are stupid enough to actually pay for it.
Yes same with daedra husks, fool hide and the other pointless monster drops,There is a daily quest in clockwork city that you need 3 pieces of ornate items... I hope this answer your question.

The only thing a player can do with a store-bought Ornate Trait item is selling it - mostly for much less than they paid for.
For the ones who aren't aware, I just want to point out that these traits are not the same as the "Fortify Barter" enchantment in Skyrim where you can sell ALL your stuff for X% more and buy for X% less when an item with this enchantment is equipped.
In ESO, only the items with the Ornate Trait have a higher value, this doesn't have any effect on your other items when you sell them.
Also, the Ornate Trait cannot be researched (too bad, actually, but we can't).
The Intricate Trait cannot be researched either, but that's the only one of these two traits which makes sense to sell in guild stores since they're useful for progressing in your crafting skill by deconstructing this item.
