Salute to a PVP player

Last night I was riding my tiger back to a fight in progress NA server and in AZ. I see a DC, wish I could name him but against the rules, he's looking at his map and unaware of me. I see he's got a higher lvl pvp rating, but that makes no difference, I'm the worst pvp player in the game, but what the heck, so I shield charge him and the fight is on, sorta, wham bam I'm dead, LOL.

I release back at warden and get a whisper from the DC, what the heck are you doing ? He goes on to say, I thought you were just going to salute me

So I tell him the truth, I'm terrible at pvp but I try, LOL.

I ride out to where he was and sure enough he's still there, so I jump off Tony (my tiger) he salutes and I do the same, he give's me a few pointers and we talk a few minutes.

Up rides 3 more AD and they attack, I don't help kill him and he's dead quickly.

So just wanted to relay this to people new to pvp or old, we are all the same and most just here to have fun, that interaction was great and gave me a new respect for my opponets .

I could be wrong, but I think the forum rule is only against "Naming and Shaming"...

I belive Naming and Commending is OK. Is it not?

It's funny when the higher ranks forget the basic rules and break out map/inventory while exposed. We've all done it.

He's lucky it was you that found him - it usually ends quite differently. Nice to see he was good about it.

Some kill whatever they come across. Some know when someone (no offense) poses no threat and leave it neutral.

Also, glad to see you're taking it well. Keep at it, you will improve!

@Divinius , common sense would say 'Yes,' but their policies are not based on those two words.

They'd probably throw a warning, even for an Attaboy.

If I am solo and see a lowbie player just roaming I tend to leave them unless they attack.

Sometimes it backfires when they return and jump me with friends.

I actually stopped and did a whole Dolmen with someone from EP a few days ago on my way to take back Dragonclaw, we both avoided using AOE skills, looted the chest and then stealthed away in opposite directions.

Pretty cool.

Awesome... I'm all for the fighting and my blood thirst is very strong but also my greatest weakness. But there's no need to hate people on the other end of a keyboard.

Weird, I thought you were talking about me til I reread the part about riding a tiger. I don't have a tiger.

I was in a delve and fishing on my VR 11 that I just introduced to Cyrodiil and remembered past the boss is a fishing spot, foul water. So I thought hey I'll fish here i haven't done that in 9 months.

Some AD killed me from behind but went back when they realized what I was doing, looked at my body for my character's name so they could /w, and told me they promised to leave me alone if I came back, they hadn't realized I was fishing.

I wasn't really trying to fish, I was just bored. But it was a nice conversation and not everyone in Cyrodiil is a jerk

@runagate , do you normally wield a fishing pole as your primary weapon?

Indeed, OP, not everyone is "Bah! It's WAR! Must...Kill...Everything..."

Of course, if you engage first (which I realize you are instinctually obligated to, even when you know it results in imminent death.), all bets are off.

Some of us try to give minor lessons to the newer types in the form of a single warning shot , gentle reminders not to pause in the middle of the road at L12 and dig through your satchel, etc.
