Hey there folks,
Console beta invitations will be sent in waves throughout the day, so keep an eye on your inbox. We thank everyone for their patience and their interest in the ESOTU console beta!
Not everyone gets an invite
Just out of interest, as a non console player, do PSN/XBL host the servers and infrastructure or do ZoS?
I've asked a couple of times but never had an answer...

I guess it would be both, it goes through PSN but ZoS host the mega servers so if PSN goes down you still won't be able to play, exactly like warthunder already does. Glad to be having it on 2 platforms though.

I always thought of XBLIVE and PSN as a sort of "gateway/portal" to access outside servers/networks. Thus, I would assume ZOS to maintain servers as long as XBLIVE/PSN allow access to them. I could be off, but that's how I always viewed the situation with other online games.
Maybe "paywall" would be a better term.

XBox allows devs to rent servers so I don't think your comment is a good explanation.

It also wouldn't quite make sense for MS to host/maintain the server for an MMO of this nature. Not on this scale anyways.

500 Call of Duty servers vs 1 ESO NA server? Additionally, the server will require constant patching/tweaking/hotfixing. To my knowledge, that's not something one would typically experience when playing most other games on the console.

COD servers aren't Xbox servers, they are COD servers.
the MEGA server should not be considered 1 server in this example.
