I thought most stolen armor was the white worthless stuff? I never bothered stealing any of it.
They are not worthless any more. And the higher your level, the more they are worth. There are several places with unguarded racks that are basically free money.
Really? I didn't know the bolded part. I've only ever stolen any armour on low-level characters, and didn't make a habit of it. I guess I should have been grabbing it with my vet characters and making bank... Oh well, not that I really care. I've always got more gold than I need anyway, so if high levels were able to get too much free gold from this, it's good that they changed it.
Staffs, greatswords, cuirass, I think I sold them for 74 per piece at vet 14. Don't remember lower level prices...
On my level 12 boots were 10gp, other items could range into the lower 20s. Sometimes you'd get a random green which might sell for more than the 30gp of white theft items.

Big money is in the regular clothes, if you find the right buyer. Boots, pants, gloves, I practically give away, shirts I've had go for 1000+. Someone bought one off me for 10,000gp this past weekend.

Yeah I found this just stupid... there was no need for it, it was something I'd do casually for fun and a little extra cash.. at least you were still limited on the number of sales. I could see them nerfing it on the under level 15-20 stuff though so people dont just make noob alts to do it, however with this change I may have to do just that once and a while to make up for the slack.

If ZOS thinks this is going to change anything, they are dead wrong.
    This is my main concern.

Looting 140 Two handed weapons a day was a quick way for me to bank gold and go level another character; several people seem to be arguing that just looting greens is only a small increased investment of time(an exaggeration, obviously, or the luckiest rng grouping on the server, I get greens but not 140 in less than 2-4 hours of scouring); if that's really the case, then there was no need for this nerf. If easily made gold via Legerdemain is an issue and 140 greens are so easily come by, then more nerfs will be incoming.

Some others argue that the easily made gold would skew market prices, devaluing it and driving up prices simply because people could scoff at inflated prices for tempers or endgame gear. These people fail to realize that many players already sit on several hundred thousand gold or more - that the in demand end game items already sit in guild stores for 100k-200k per item.

I have yet to see a reasonable argument for why this change was necessary.

I fully agree with you. In another post I mapped out the price of a full set of 12 V14 end game gear and people are looking at 700k-1.7milliion gold for a full set depending on what they want.

The average casual player is NEVER going to be able to get that much gold together and it is going to force the hardcore players in grinding for gold and items to sell, so all ZOS did was make this much worse than they were.

Well, you can pay a crafter to make you a full set of Yellow Armor and Weapons for about 350k, depending on your tastes in Jewelry you could spend as little as 10k there for nice Purple stuff. Any VR14 should be able to amass that amount of gold.

On topic - I thought they were going to do this a long time ago. I made quite a bit of gold looting white armor racks and that was just on a VR1 as my primary thief. I suppose people could have millions just from thieving by now if I kept at it, but I slacked off after maxing Legerdemain out. In any case this change was more than justified imo.
Semi retired from the trading aspects of the game.

Some zones have an huge amount of armor and weapons lying around and steal-able without ever getting spotted. 5 mins to pick up 60 items, hand in, and repeat = fast easy gold even at for a L5 toon

It had to be nerfed. Too many players have an insane amount of gold forcing items to be sold for crazy prices. They had to decrease the gold coming in, the prices for some items is going up too fast due to mmo Inflation and it was breaking the economy

Crafters can't make certain sets of armor like Ravager's and Sergeants which are only available for purchase with AP in PVP zone's Elite vendors. This is what is considered end game gear, allowing 5+5+2 armor sets. wearing two crafted sets don't allow for that and neither do most dropped jewellery.

But either way, this is not going to change much at all. It is just going to change how people do it. There are plenty of NONE stealable, but available to loot armor and weapon places out there to make up for what they have just done. The legermaine line doesn't rank up based on the gold amount of items any ways, but by the number of items fenced.

I never found the whole justice system fun any ways, so that isn't going to change at all.

Having more gold doesn't force people to sell items for higher values and people have had insane amounts of gold since before Legerdemain was introduced.

I think it makes sense though. Prices for hot products are usually cheaper do to the danger involved in buying hot goods. I am just happy that they made it interesting with the wanted levels. Really gave those of us who sneak a fun thing to do while we wait for people.

The gold is useless anyway! I don't get what the big deal is. . . probably some broke / stupid scrub out there who doesn't know how to play is having trouble affording 250G items from the guild AH and is angry that other players that know how to play/actually enjoy thieving and leveling ledgerman up are progressing and they aren't.

They should be giving us more / better / stuff to steal . . . not less !

How about a guard nerf to balance this out? Seriously their range is stupidly too close. Often times I am just porting out of the city just to go to the Fence entrance on the outside because I cant even walk on the same side of the map as the guards.

thanks the justice system was barely worth the time as it was. now i can just grind it for the skill points and it to the list of things that used to be fun.

i was taking my time and only going out stealing for fun when i needed gold.... cant have that can we zos. thanks for fixing my gameplay <3

If you really want to steal for fun, go loot containers or - god forbid you should risk it - pickpocket people. Those haven't been nerfed. What you REALLY wanted was to go into an armourer/weaponsmith and ransack the tables and weapon racks for an easy dozen items. You wanted instant gratification, not fun.

No thanks im good. Was having fun doing it my way, items worth lots of gold and little ledgermain xp.
    Obviously i was playing wrong!
So ill just get what i want out of it and never touch it again, just like laggy broken cyrodil.
