Serious risk of an arrow to the knee

In putting together armour for a build, I have elected to use some primal style leg guards, but, in combination with my boots, there is gap at about knee height as can be seen.
I am not ready to become a guard! I need knee armour!
Anyone else have problems when combining different armour styles?
