Depends on how they do it. if they do it like TSW, then you only get the DLC while you are subbed and the moment your subscription runs out you lose access tot he new content. If that is the case, you can probably buy the DLC content. As far as costumes, mounts and any other items, yea you can buy those if you wish to.

Short answer, we don't know if your a active subscriber if you can, but more than likely you could unsubscribe then using Crowns purchase the DLC and then re-subscribe.

Since no DLC has come out yet we do not know. We do know that as a subscriber you will get full access to any DLC that comes out.

I subscribe and am a ESO+ member and will more than likely use the unsub, purchase DLC w/Crowns and then resub trick. This is just so if i decide to fully unsub that I will then have DLC's available to me.

The answer is yes. Yes, you can still buy the DLC while you are a subscriber.

This question was answered previously by a ZOS employee. You are NOT going to be restricted from purchasing the DLC w/ the crowns you get from your subscription when DLC becomes available.

Another way of thinking about it is like this:

You are not "subscribing" anymore in a traditional sense. What you are actually doing is purchasing 1500 crowns per month (1500 crowns costs 14.99, there is literally zero difference between subbing and just buying these crowns outright, other than the bonuses that come w/ a sub).

For purchasing your monthly 1500 crowns, you get the xp/inspiration/gold boost and FREE access to DLCs.

But you flat out bought the crowns already, and you are still allowed to purchase whatever you like w/ these Crowns, so long as you do not already OWN the purchase.

If you are just renting it, you will still be able to purchase it, but once you've actually bought it, you won't be able to buy it again (if for some reason you wanted to do that).

That's kinda what I was thinking I would have to do. I'm just worried they (ZOS) will mess that up and I lose the DLC!

I understand your thinking, but your DLC purchase would more than likely show up in your account log (I am hoping it does, it should..) so you can advise them about it in the future if you have problems dropping the sub and cannot access the DLC you paid for. I will back up my information with ingame screenshots that I purchased the DLC, just in case.

Ok then. I'm going to hold you to that!!!

Go right ahead, I'm not steering you wrong. : )

I couldn't find the exact quote (it's buried somewhere in the mountain of my participated discussions, lol), but I dug this up for you:

"Do I lose all items and rewards earned from DLC if my ESO Plus membership ends?

No. You will lose access to the DLC areas and quests should your membership lapse (unless you purchase the DLC separately in the Crown Store), but you will keep all items and rewards earned through the content."

    Source: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/tamrielunlimitedfaq

The italicized statement clearly alludes to being able to purchase the DLC separately in the Crown Store WHILE you are an ESO+ member. If you could not purchase the DLC while being an ESO+ subscriber, there would be no need for the disclaimer.

    Yes
Access to DLC comes in two ways
    1. Buying it
    2. Having an active ESO plus account

If ESO plus is no longer active and you want to play the content you'd buy it (which should occur just as crown purchases occur today)

    Source: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26446/kw/DLC

IF I BECOME AN ESO PLUS MEMBER AND THEN ALLOW MY MEMBERSHIP TO LAPSE, WILL I LOSE ALL OF MY DLC PACKS TO DATE?
    Updated 03/17/2015 01:32 PM Published 01/21/2015 07:49 AM
ESO Plus members who allow their memberships to lapse will keep all items earned but lose access to DLC content such as additional dungeons. For example, if a player earned a legendary weapon as a reward for completing a dungeon they could only access while an ESO Plus member, they would not lose that weapon. They would only lose access to the dungeon itself.

All DLC content will become available again once the membership is renewed.

Alternatively, players can also purchase individual DLC packs from the in-game Crown Store. Purchased DLC remains on the player's account and does not lapse.

Be sure to watch our official website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) for more information.

Good question. I am waiting to hear the answer to this one.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

But you would think that since I pay 192.84 per year (16.07 per month) I should get these DLC's free and clear. Wouldn't that make sense? It seems crazy to me that I would have to drop my sub, use my crowns to get the DLC, then re sub again.

Sounds crazy but thats how it will work as ZOS stated, with a sub you rent, not own the DLC's. You could just not sub, then purchase them when they become available.
Or use the trick I spoke about above, drop your sub, purchase the DLC then resub...
