It was hard to decide between pvp and group as i like both, group pvp and pve. But at the moment pvp is more fun if you find a place without lag.

WOW! so surprised by the amount of solo players in this game. I really would've thought otherwise

Honestly I am as well. I thought PvP would have been higher considering the design of the game.

I still suspect these percentages will change a bit, but if they don't, I'd hate to be in ZOS's shoes. Do you release Imperial City first to try and draw back in some who have left or release Orsinium first to keep those here from leaving? That is of course assuming Orsinium is a mixture of Solo and Group like the alliance zones. I think at this point the only safe thing is to release them both together as one DLC, considering how long both have been promised.
As a primarily solo PVE player, I sincerely hope they bring in Imperial City first. Sure, it's not the option that would give me personally more things to do, but even if they make up as small a percentage of the player base as this poll suggests (which I suspect is unlikely, but who knows), there really hasn't been anything new for PVP players since launch. They need new stuff more than us PVE players do.

80 percent says it all...forced grouping in this day and age is unacceptable!

I like grouping, please don't think Im playing In Vacuo constantly. But even if I am playing solo, I'm still chatting to guildies and friends - thats where the MMO aspect kicks in to.

I would love it if Craglorn had solo aspects. Especially the main story.

I can use that poll result just how I like it.

From 1-50 this game is 90%% solo, so judging by the poll results there should be more group content. You already have 15 or so solo zones. Why do you need another one?

I would love it if the only group zone Craglorn would give better incentives instead.

As a primarily solo player, I don't disagree with you. There should be more challenging group content while leveling (you can group for almost all of the content, but then it's just a faceroll - currently the group dungeons are really the only group content pre-VR), and there should be some repeatable endgame solo content as well as more group endgame content.

Solo content should be the norm. Players don't always have the time to wait around for their friends to log on and get to the right spot. They don't always have the desire to tackle content that requires perfect coordination and group builds that only work when they have synergy with others.

There are plenty of single player games that are examples of this. Why it's different in MMOs has never made sense to me.

Really?? Do you know what MMO stands for? Doesn't the second "M" stand for "Multiplayer?" Needing group coordination in a MULTIPLAYER game makes perfect sense.

Golf is a multiplayer game, but you don't have to wait for a group to start playing. MMOs should be just like this.... group when you can, solo when you can't. Grouping should NOT be mandatory to complete content.

There is really no other option to pick as bad as this game is to form groups. You would think after a year they would have it working right. Really points to how hard they must be working on console release!

The problem here is the Design element. A long time ago the powers-that-be made an unexpected turn and decided to create solo-style quests that would require you to be in a group in order to complete. This is a very common mistake that Design teams all over just can't seem to realize, meaning that you find this kind of garbage in almost all games now. The result is that many times you might find yourself in a group that wants to complete this solo quest while in a group - but whomever may be running the group doesn't give a crap about anyone else in the group. They do what THEY need and then leave. There really are some simple design elements one could implement in these cases to fix these issues, but Design thinks too much of themselves to consider changing what they think is correct design.

It is an all-too-common event through this industry that people in Design don't have a clue to certain gaming theory concepts. And then when someone points it out to them they are too full of themselves to consider changing what they have. Mostly it is due to the belief that "Hey, millions of people are playing my game or quest so I clearly know what I am doing and you don't."

    What a shame.

Did anyone play Final Fantasy XI back in the day on PC before they made it less hardcore? Now THAT had some serious forced grouping issues.

Personally, I'm a PvE player who solos mostly but I have no issues grouping for bigger quests and such.

I love to group, but I also fall right in line with your reasoning why you solo. Somehow MMO's got to figure out how to get like minded people together better.

It is depressing to me how many people want to solo, because that is where dev focus happens and if they can't scale things properly, things are silly easy for groups and a game without challenge, at least to me, becomes stale, fast.

I won't fault a solo'r playing a MMO, everyone has their reasons, but I find in general I rather play a true SP game for solo, tighter story, don't have to worry about my place with everyone, just me and the game, don't feel I'm being restrained either.

Forced grouping is thing of the past and this poll aswell as multiple articles on the mater that seem to pop up lately only confirm it. Time for ZOS to realize this aswell and start to create content available for majority of their playerbase and not locked behind forced grouping for select few only to see.
Players want to play MMOS because they want to experience a living, breathing, everchanging game world where they can trade, interact, fool around, work towards common goals, or lend a hand if they choose to for pure fun, not because they want to be forced to group and limited by others 24/7.
The game would be in much beter shape today if they realized it before craglorn, i hope the person who made a call for it was allready fired.

Erm I play MMO's to group, pretty much exclusively. Putting me in the pole minority I guess.

Poll results are likely the reason this is such a failed MMO. Lulz.

That said I play other games now because people arent so damn anti-social. MMO's have always been for me, group orientated affairs to play with others. Not walking around alone because I dont know how to deal with other people.

Solo I avoid. Every game that isnt an mmo pretty much caters to that demographic. Seems stupid to me that people expect full solo in a multiplayer game.

Anyway, opinions are opinions. Thats mine. Welcome or not.

^ My vote said it all.

I am a ES gamer since oblivion and I really enjoy this game as a solo player in occasion to play with groups or the people that are around me, that makes it unique, even tho is not like the new thing on the block since all Mmo's are like this, but since this is the Mmo that I have been on the most it makes me feel it that way.

I like to group or just jump in with random people, I even have "friends" in my friend list that help me with a lot of things but not when i t comes down to grouping or doing dungeons, even pvp. I haven't try pvp yet, I am waiting to go Vrank and jump in that fun. But yeah...

No matter how hard I try, I don't think I will ever understand why people buy a multiplayer game and then play solo. If I wanted to play solo, I would buy a solo game. But hey, whatever floats your boat. ESO content is at least 80% solo content anyway, so they got that right.

On the other hand, it's the more dedicated group/PvP players that keep a game vibrant past that initial solo questing stage, and often the ones that keep coming back to buy cosmetic stuff in the store etc.; so even if they form only 20% or so of the player base, their economic importance outweighs their base numbers.

MMOs, as a genre, are not dying.
Specific ones are dying due to the popular few having pretty much the entire fan-base. Most people do not have the time or money to play more than one at once, either.
Please keep in mind that many of us are playing this game as Elder Scrolls fans, not MMO fans. ES has, until now, been a single player experience and some people like to keep it as such.

Console here and I love grouping. Even if it's just simple PVE questing, the game is more fun if you're grouped up and chatting while playing. Grinding is painful alone, and I find dungeoning to be the most enjoyable part of the game.

Last night on my magicka NB I grouped up with a random DK and we were unstoppable. Makes the 'solo' content much more bearable when you can whine about the boring NPCs to a human.

I wish there were more people console who were less antisocial and actually did things like group with randoms or at very least had area chat running while in quest zones. By far, I have found most people on console extremely nice and fun to play with. Also, I've come across many new MMO players who leveled 1-50 so easily, they still don't have much idea about just how to play the game, how do do group dungeons, builds and crafting, trading etc...and I have had great conversations with folks showing them just how awesome this game can be.

Actually, the poll results did not surprise me, every poll I have seen since I played Meridian59 has shown players prefer PvE over PvP and content that can be soloed over content that requires a group. Crafting is important but not as important as playability and balance, but everyone has a different idea of what balance is... mostly it tends to sound like "My Character needs to be the strongest, everyone else needs to be weaker" not that anyone would say that.

I would also add that as a solo player who hates PvP I had a good time getting most of the sky shards in Craglorn and Cyrodill... it took some work, but it was fun.

I am not as vexed about the new Imperial City being all PvP or Group in the middle of a PvP area, what bothers me the most is that crafted items will no longer be the best in the game, that dropped items will be the same... that the only place to get VR15 and 16 materials for crafting is in the imperial city... in other words, I will not get any myself.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

I am glad someone necro'd this thread because I think we should have more 'current' participation. The results don't surprise me, even if- as of now- only 249 players participated.

This is why, when PvP players complain about lack of content, they need to realize that regardless of what ZOS initially intended this game to become... clearly those playing the game (and paying for it) do not share that initial vision of "grouped endgame content with large PvP population". The majority of players playing/paying for this game are SOLO players who want options for their online game-play... they don't want 'forced' group content or 'forced' PvP... they want to be able to SOLO most content, including end-game content.

I certainly hope ZOS is listening and will make future content accordingly.

That is why originally I chose the word Option. You like one the most and have the option of the other two. If you don't want to do one or both of the others then you don't have to. I could have made about a dozen options but that would have defeated the purpose of this poll.

For instance If i were to dial it in on my personal opinion then I would say - I prefer solo with the option of Group and PvP but absolutely no forced grouping.

I played FFXI in the past for almost a decade. You really needed to group up to level, which I never gave a thought to back then because it was all new to me. Honestly, having to group to level wasn't such a bad thing, it might not have been the more efficient way to level these days, but back then I'm glad it was the way it was because I'd never had made friends and get to know people that usually played at the same time I did on the way to max level(which actually took several months, lol).

I can understand that some people are put off because of the negativity that can happen when in a group. But leveling in ESO is very disconnected to the point you don't feel you're playing online. I haven't reached max level yet, but that's not really the point, max level(end game) will always have group content; it's the journey to max level that's probably the most important experience in MMOs and is sadly easily removed in most MMOs today.
