Magica cost change?

I have noticed that I am frequently running out of magica the past two weeks, has something changed in the game? As you never know if something got nerfed or something is broken... Anyone experiencing this?

Its working exactly the opposite for me.

Make sure when you respeced that you read each and all the skills, attributes and effects.
Things do not work as they use to but I don't think is broken...I fear you may need to respec

Armor, stats and skills all matter. Weapon type and mana or stamina work hand in hand or have adverse effects.

I'm having the same experience with my werewolf. Suddenly I'm running out of stamina very quickly and I'm not sure why. I have some ideas, but I don't think it's broken yet in that regard. At the moment it's just making me kind of go "Hmm...something's not right."

Perhaps your armor is broken ? Armor passive are disabled if the armor is broken.

there was a bug where elemental drain stacked with different ranks so that might be your problem.

Could be the elemental drain stack fix, but still not sure, it feels like either the spell cost reduce enchant is not working or the destro staff / draw essence is not giving back magica....

As far as I know nothing major has changed, not a lot of people knew of and exploited the Elemental Drain tactic that I know of.

What is important to note that since 1.6 a lot of stats have been moved to the Champion System such that it isn't viable using them on gear. For example, with a Magicka DPS build pre-1.6 it was quite common to stack crit and magicka regen on gear along with a bit of spell damage and max magicka enchants, now post-1.6 having crit on gear is just wasted, so is magicka regen (for PvE) and so it's all about stacking max magicka, spell damage and spell cost reduction. If you use a pre-1.6 build post-1.6 you will have a bad time.

Are you weaving your ability attacks with heavy attacks? This regenerates magicka whilst doing so and it's a good idea to get used to medium/heavy weaving to help restore magicka as you fight. If you just spam abilities you will OOR very, very fast.

Check all your skills, check all your passives, use all the cost reduction you can (on jewelery) and max your chosen resource on your gear for more damage, also check your attribute points as the pre-1.6 "all in health" strategy doesn't work any more. For PvE you are looking at a third in your chosen resource and two thirds in health as a starter point so that at VR14 you have a minimum of 20k health with food.

So, in general, just experiment and have a play, check your gear is the best for you and for your class/build/spec. Try new things and practice, practice, practice! With the same build and the same weapons I can sustain my DPS for over 2-4 minutes before I go OOR or if I want I can drain it all in 30-60 seconds, it's a very important thing to practice.

Thanks for the comment, but it has nothing to do with gear, cp etc... On my side, i check everything before i run a dunegon. I had noticed the same effect when there was lag in the dungeon, like when darkshade was almost unplayable and same thing had happened, like you do spells but do not get magica return

Decided to create a dragon knight. Most of my skills are magic based & boy oh boy they drain magicka quick. No idea whether this is due to changes made, a bug or me still learning the class.

@phairdon i am not sure if you are being sarcastic... But just in case i have 13k+ ach Points and i finished all trials apart from sanctum hard mode and time trial... So i know my stuff...

If you're having noticeable issues...its your build and skill /stat/armor/weapon choices.

After the update stamina Regen and magic Regen are much better.
on my Templar with the regen skill slotted I literally only run out if I spam for like 15-20+ spells otherwise it stays above 35%

If you're stamina built and blocking and or dodging....read the tool tips

its not the build, its not the gear, its not the skills etc..... Its using same gear same skill same build and not running out of magica in vet dsa one week and ending up depleting very quickly today...

No sarcasm on my part. My dragon knight is level 41. As stated, my magicka drains real fast, as most skills used are magicka based. When battling mobs, its not uncommon for me to completely run out of magicka.
18 points in magicka already, using mage light & the mage mundus stone.

Combat stat ticks are supposed to be done on server to prevent godmode/hacking.
No server comms = no tick.
Probably see +999 on the latency if you switch it on.

Those in the know use cost reduction instead of regen....dont have to worry about ticks so much then and can probably survive lag better.

I have reduce spell cost on all jewellery v14, and latency is always on and was like 110 so not that bad

Well if you are so skilled, surely you don't need the forum's help?

I would suggest trying to kill something with reasonably high HP and seeing if you notice a difference. Simple things like weaving attacks too fast or being under more pressure than normal in a Veteran DSA run can easily cause magicka to drain fast. Also things like MotG not proccing as often can increase magicka drain, there are so many possible reasons, maybe your healer wasn't using Healing Springs and was instead using Illustrious Healing, the list goes on and on.

Do some experimenting, you may find the answer. .

@Paulington we did the testing, and my friend who is a top notch healer is experiencing the same thing, i use this place to see if anyone else is experiencing the problem, and double check things...

I have a Dragon Knight that I respecced and geared for Stamina post 1.6. I soon put him back into Magic and he is doing great. I never run out of magic in a fight. And, I am running 7/7 Heavy Armor, so no armor passives are helping me. I run the Syrbane rings with Kuta Regen Glyphs applied, and Seducer for 5 of the Pieces. I forget what is the 4 piece set, Twighlite I think?

He will soon be VR7, so the next set of gear will be 5H/2L, mainly to get rid of the huge honking shoulders and to get a little magic love from the 2 pieces of Light.

Running 22000k magicka...

Then make sure u have 5 piece light, and use skills such as draw essence and impulse and elemental drain for magica return, and weave light/medium attacks when using force pulse. At vr1 you can get the warlock set which will help a lot

Learning process for me. Thinking about magicka & its cost, do not have any trouble with my two vet sorc's.

Armor type? Plate? That might be an issue
