This thread is to see if we can get ideas regarding some sort of VR-like progression system that isn't just changing VR levels to levels 50-63, or each VR Level to a CP standard (like VR14 = 120 CP)
The if you have an idea, go ahead and expand upon it on how crafting / itemization can be incorporated into it.
I have 3 ideas to start with:
1) Achievement Oriented: Raw achievement point thresholds = some VR rank equivalent. This is my least favorite of my 3 ideas... its bland. Bad idea, but an idea all the same.
2) Some system that takes into account PVP, PVE, Questing, and Achievement progression. It is sort of like my above idea, but it takes into account all the progression your character makes. As a "Veteran" character, your experiences with all the areas of the game add to your character, making them stronger. Basically, you get stronger with the varied activities you complete. This is the most ambiguous one, where quite a bit of thought and balance would need to be instilled to the system so any branch's progression doesn't out-rate the others. Full PVE completion and full quest completion could get you to the VR14 equivalent too... or ideally a little of each could get you to VR14 equivalent fastest.
3) Remove VR's and any progression system altogether after 50 altogether (this is my preferred). You can do end-game at lvl50, right away. All mobs are level 50 in current VR zones. The extra quests/content is optional (good for CP earning though!). However, the gear/items would be randomized. You'd essentially replace the VR levels with a RNG wall... which shouldn't be too crazy. VR1-VR14 would drop randomly, except for maybe a few items. The crafting would stay much the same, except nodes would be equally dispersed through L50 zones. You could still craft the best gear, with the best materials and wade through the RNG that way.
Itemization: Main point - Lower the difference between VR1-VR14 gear and/or equivalent gear to be within 5-10% of each other, rather than the 50% that it is now. If VR1 gear was closer to VR14, people wouldn't feel obligated to invest time into grinding quests/mobs/content to get the gear that simply way out-performs current VR1 gear. I think this would alleviate some of the necessity to level at this point. If you're into min/maxing, great you're going to be grinding. If you're not, then you don't have to, just know that the people who are will still be better then you, but you will be at a slight disadvantage.
