I can earn up to 20k gold in game in one hour game-play.
Kind of even up for me one way or another to buy the motif.
I can think of 1000 different things I can do with $50 rl money besides blow it on some silly thing to make cosmetic armor. 20k gold in the game I can only spend on stuff in the game. Now that the game is tecnically "free" (no sub) a mount cost you 2-3 months of subscription and a book 4 months... i cant understand people complaining the previous model.LordSkyKnight wrote: »You want to know something ironic? While I totally agree the prices are silly, when games have cash shops, they don't care if 9 out of 10 people don't spend a penny providing the tenth is loaded and doesn't care.
Archeage is a good example, you can buy something called an Apex from their cash store for £6.99. You can then sell it in game for however much you can get. Each Apex gives 1250 store credits, so if you buy two in game, you have enough to pay a months sub (2400 credits)
While the price of these varies in game, at the moment I'm buying them for 240G which takes no time at all to make. You would think most people would simply spend a short while making in game gold rather than keep buying Apex for real cash and selling them for 240 in game gold (a bit less, AH takes a cut) , but no, every single day the AH has tons.
Archeage also has my pet hate, the rng box. A box you buy for store credits (crowns) and you have a chance for a rare item. People have been complaining on the forums that they have spent $200, $300, $500 on them and still not got the rare mount, and a lot of people are complaining.
I don't understand why people spend so much although the Archage example did lead to a great youtube clip (ending is brilliant)

When playing Lotro, a kin (guild) member got a new credit card and in 3 days she spent $200 just on clothes for her character.
As long as enough people are prepared to do that, those of us that think the prices too high will simply be ignored.
This is not about buy or not, this is about true value of items. 1 motif ( i dont care rare it or not) just must NOT cost like full new game!

"Twue" value of an item is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. There is no "must" here. There is what you are willing to pay, what you aren't willing to pay (universal you, not individual). You are obviously not willing to pay this. So don't. However, I'd recommend not presuming to dictate to anyone else what they "must" be willing to pay or not pay.

Or have they lowered them already...
This is the very definition of moral hazard.
First of all I'm totally against that idea of having the Motives, a very rare and valuable items in the Crown Shop. I'm affraid it can affect the economy of the game, and the behaviour of the players.
However, I think the prices are fair. I'd certainly not want to see those Dwemmer and Imperial motives for less than 5000 crown. Its expensive, yes! That's the point! You want it but refuse to buy it for gold, farm dungeons and delves, make in game effort? Well, you have a shortcut solution for you. But hell yeah it will cost you 4 months of saving if you are a suscriber or quite some money if you are not.
This seems to me TOTALY FAIR. Because, in the end, that's not how you are supposed to get those items.
EDIT. In addition, I bet my shirt that we will see SALES on those motives that will last like 1 week end to push players to purchase fast those very rare motives.

350 Crowns per page compiled into the rarest item in the game and usable immediately.
Wow.

it would be spitting people in the face, who has farmed days and days for certain motifs, if they were a few bucks in the crown store.
