I can earn up to 20k gold in game in one hour game-play.

Kind of even up for me one way or another to buy the motif.

I can think of 1000 different things I can do with $50 rl money besides blow it on some silly thing to make cosmetic armor. 20k gold in the game I can only spend on stuff in the game.
You want to know something ironic? People were throwing fits about the subscription price but people will roll belly up and pay that money for the 5k motifs lmao.
Now that the game is tecnically "free" (no sub) a mount cost you 2-3 months of subscription and a book 4 months... i cant understand people complaining the previous model.

You're not using the word "technically" properly. Technically the game is not free because it has the initial purchase cost.

While I totally agree the prices are silly, when games have cash shops, they don't care if 9 out of 10 people don't spend a penny providing the tenth is loaded and doesn't care.

Archeage is a good example, you can buy something called an Apex from their cash store for £6.99. You can then sell it in game for however much you can get. Each Apex gives 1250 store credits, so if you buy two in game, you have enough to pay a months sub (2400 credits)

While the price of these varies in game, at the moment I'm buying them for 240G which takes no time at all to make. You would think most people would simply spend a short while making in game gold rather than keep buying Apex for real cash and selling them for 240 in game gold (a bit less, AH takes a cut) , but no, every single day the AH has tons.

Archeage also has my pet hate, the rng box. A box you buy for store credits (crowns) and you have a chance for a rare item. People have been complaining on the forums that they have spent $200, $300, $500 on them and still not got the rare mount, and a lot of people are complaining.

I don't understand why people spend so much although the Archage example did lead to a great youtube clip (ending is brilliant)

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=i052WLd0yKc

When playing Lotro, a kin (guild) member got a new credit card and in 3 days she spent $200 just on clothes for her character.

As long as enough people are prepared to do that, those of us that think the prices too high will simply be ignored.

Don't really care about the prices. They are convenience items. You can buy them in game as well for a small amount of gold. This is for the players who really have money to just take the most "convenient" route. It should not be an alternative for all players.

If you're buying enough crowns to pay 5k for the motif, more power to you.

If you're earning enough crowns over the course of the next four months to buy whichever motif you wanted...more power to you.

    Either way...it's a fine price.

How many times that guy has ben used for "custom" made videos.... I feel for him a little

I buyed ACU last week and in game you can buy extra credits, the bad side of this is that they have balanced the stuff you can buy in order to give you a loot of power (yes they sell equip) and the multiplayer , on-line pve co-op is totally unbalanced, i cannot remember the countless times i've ben called noob this week... I only hope te best for teso but the companies need to make money so i belive that the drop rate for the motifs will be touched soon

Once again, you don't HAVE to buy these items...

I know all motifs but I generally craft my own personal gear in the Breton style.

Using all Dwemer-looking gear won't keep you alive if you don't know how to play your game.

This is not about buy or not, this is about true value of items. 1 motif ( i dont care rare it or not) just must NOT cost like full new game!

"Twue" value of an item is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. There is no "must" here. There is what you are willing to pay, what you aren't willing to pay (universal you, not individual). You are obviously not willing to pay this. So don't. However, I'd recommend not presuming to dictate to anyone else what they "must" be willing to pay or not pay.

Think of it like this: previously you would pay $15/mo to play the game with no added bonus. Now you can pay $15/mo for 3 months of 10% bonus xp and gold and skill and a very rare motif. Think of it as an incredible loyalty reward for 3 months. Or pay $40 for 5500 points. This is a reasonable price.

Yup, you totally right, everyone have the right to decide for themselves, whether allow developers think that their customers are brainless, or not.

First of all I'm totally against that idea of having the Motives, a very rare and valuable items in the Crown Shop. I'm affraid it can affect the economy of the game, and the behaviour of the players.

However, I think the prices are fair. I'd certainly not want to see those Dwemmer and Imperial motives for less than 5000 crown. Its expensive, yes! That's the point! You want it but refuse to buy it for gold, farm dungeons and delves, make in game effort? Well, you have a shortcut solution for you. But hell yeah it will cost you 4 months of saving if you are a suscriber or quite some money if you are not.
This seems to me TOTALY FAIR. Because, in the end, that's not how you are supposed to get those items.

EDIT. In addition, I bet my shirt that we will see SALES on those motives that will last like 1 week end to push players to purchase fast those very rare motives.

They can charge as much as they like. The only important question is if they will be tempted to lower the drop rates of these items in game if they are not meeting their sales goals.

Or have they lowered them already...

This is the very definition of moral hazard.

The drop rate on the yellow motif's is SO low anyway that we will basically never know or be able to tell if they nerf it.

So at least in that respect I guess we're living in blissful ignorance.

Give us some pics when you lose your skirt i sure half of the comunity want them ;p

Motifs from what i know where a big part of the economy the first months now the prices (not the rare or the legendary) are 2-300 gold each and even the purple ones have got a price drop post 1.6, in addition i've never saw a full dwemer book so it is the rarest in-game drop but i belive if someone found it and sell it the price will be around 120-150k so, rougly the cost of 2-3 mounts (in game currency) and since the "" base" mounts are sold at 700 crowns the price of the motif should be 2100 crowns IMHO.

Dwemer is a deal at 5000 Crowns. If you can afford it, buy now before they change it.

350 Crowns per page compiled into the rarest item in the game and usable immediately.

    Wow.

Dweamer is crap, noone wants it. Ive made 2? (I think) sets for customers. I made all sets in a few vr ranks to show people what they look like.

im currently on a few million gold, so im not talking smack.

The only point to Dweamer is the achievment.

If thats worth 50 quid then buy it in the crown store, otherwise forget about it. its not worth your time to even think about the item being for sale for crowns.

It needs to cost a lot. It's CONVINIENCE! If you don't want to farm in game for certains things and want to "cheat" your way to glory, you'll have to pay the price for it.

it would be spitting people in the face, who has farmed days and days for certain motifs, if they were a few bucks in the crown store.

You choosed to farm it... Come in the crowns store we sell it.
At least it is cosmetic and not something that gives you power.
And tbh the really good dwemer pices are the bow the shield and the belts the rest is just meh.... The good thing is that if you like a pice you dont need the full motif, a page cost 7k gold.
    The problem is the imperial.

    Edit
And regard the dwemer you still need the scraps to do it and that mats cost a lot, it will be nice if with the motif they include the possibility to craft it... You know for 50€ .....

Items like this should not be in the crown store in the first place, they should be earned in game.

They still are earned in game if you choose that route. However if you have 5000 crowns worth of money to spend and dont want to grind for the motifs or ingame gold to buy them please go ahead, I dont mind.
I would be angry if stats on the items made from store motifs was higher then on the rest of the styles tho.

To me most of this whine regarding store items seems to come from cheap & greedy persons who want shortcuts but dont want to pay up.
So far the crownstore has been very well implemented with cosmetics and fluff for fair prices i think.
