Returning player: Templar race question

Hello everyone,

I've just returned to ESO and am wondering if I should pick up my lvl 26 KHAJIT templar or reroll a new templar with a different race like Breton or High Elf for the racials. Do racials make a alot of difference now? If they do, I wouldn't mind starting a new Templar with a different race. But if it doesn't make that much of a difference I will ofcourse continue with my Khajit templar.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions :)

Racials do in some cases mean more than before, yes.
That being said a "wrong" race is no hindrance for anything, but obviously 10% more base stat (hp, st, ma) will make a difference with no soft caps.
For the extreme min/maxer race is important, if you are one, reroll I would say.

My personal advice is roll the race you like the best. As long as that race is Argonian. Swim speed OP.

    Thank you, Jitterbug.

10% more magicka with a Breton is rather a lot tbh...
I also see a 3% reduction in the magicka cost of spells.

Maybe I am min/maxer after all because I'm leaning towards a reroll with a Breton

It also depends on your build, Breton and High Elf are the best for magicka builds but Imperial is probably a lot better for stamina/tank builds. Khajiit could be nice for a stamina dps Templar though.

This is a good discussion. My PC character has been an Altmeri templar, with sword/shield and resto staff. I'm thinking that's not going to be viable in the long term. Am I wrong for that? Once I get to the X1 version (provided the crown store ads calm down), I'm thinking about doing a Dunmeri templar but solely as a caster. I'm thinking a priest with two staves, destruction and restoration. Thoughts?

I think it depends on how you want to play your Templar. I'm currently leveling up a Paladin style Imperial Templar. I think if you wanted to go more magicka based Breton or Altmer would be a fine choice. Something in between, I would imagine a Dunmer would work quite well.

Altmer Templar is fine particularly if you go for a Destruction staff DPS build using Force Shock/Pulse to take advantage of the elemental damage bonus (with or without resto secondary). The 10% Magicka and increased combat magicka regeneration are both top tier passives for a Magicka user.

As a templar, you can fit all the roles. You can go stamina dps and become a stamina tank. Or you can become a magicka dps and become a healer and a magicka based tank.

    I'd reroll a breton.

you could be a perfectly viable templar as a khajit. mine is breton (i picked this because i wanted to be magicka focused) but even though i may have more magicka and be slightly more efficient, the fact that you have options to improve your magicka pool/efficiency means your khajit won't suck.
