Housing-What would you want if this was added?

Pretty simple question. What would you want added as a feature for player houses?

My ideas would be maybe crafting stations. They'll most likely make it Wayshrine access only, so how about adding a convenient place to craft/uncraft?

There's a lot I would want, though not all feasible I suppose.

A few things I would want (I could think of a lot more):

House would be its own instanced zone that you can invite people to. Different themes (such as Rift Cabin).

Housing would be tied to crafting. At most you would build the house, at the very least you would be able to use your crafting to renovate and customize houses.

House would have crafting stations, possibly a storage separate from bank (or different types of storage, like wardrobe for clothing). Possibly being able to sleep and do other things at the house for various buffs.

Housing would be available for in-game gold and not through the crown store.

Oh gosh. I want a lot of things. So many things.

Like the ability to choose what style I want the house in, with at lease 3 templates per racial motif.
I also want the ability to buy furniture (again, of many racial styles) and be able to control its placement and size.
An increased storage capability by way of furniture/chests.
Maybe seeing your pet roaming around the premises (if you bought one in the crown store).

As far as the actual placement of the house.....an open-world-esque housing Island or housing district where players can determine everything from where the house is situated to the technicalities of its insides. Player-build neighborhoods if you will. But for those who don't want to participate in that open-placement system, then they can have the option of having instanced housing that is scattered throughout the world (preferably tied to those quests where an 'abandoned' or 'compromised' house is involved. Like that warehouse in Khenarthi's Roost).

1- I'd want it NOT connected to the crown store to own a home

    and

2- Lots of containers inside to make up for ESO's horribad inventory management

The rest really doesn't matter to me
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Trophies. Crafting stations. Other people (mentioned specifically since I suspect ZOS may explore an option to have zones for this where there are no other players). Portal to wayshrines. Safe. Guest house for merchants similar to some mods in skyrim. Stable (usefull, where we could store mounts). Ledger for anyone who walks in can sign it. Option to lock or leave unlocked. Weapon/armor racks like in skyrim. Resting/sleeping would have a small active bonus.

With this locked/unlocked, maybe have the ability to rob players as well?

Housing, should we ever get it, will hopefully be instanced. I'll list some things that I'd love to see, taken from other MMOs with decent housing systems plus a few of my own ideas:
    • The ability to change the color and texture of the interior (floors, walls, ceilings, trims & accents, etc.)
    • Pets could live inside, happily roaming about (I love how EQ2 did this)
    • A crafting profession dedicated to making all manner of items for housing
    • All other crafting professions could have a few recipes for housing items
    • Items such as trophies acquired through adventuring could be placed within housing
    • An interface with which to customize the placement, size, and configuration (along multiple axes) of any and all items
    • Indoor and outdoor sections (with accompanying items)
    • Various sizes and floor plans should be available, including a home that could be built from the 'ground up'
    • Housing could be in lots, like condos or apartment complexes, and if personal kiosks are ever implemented, each resident's kiosk would be found in a common area (or at least a kiosk 'hub' to alleviate lag) of such complexes
    • Lots of storage capacity
    • Incentives for housing, such as a detailed ranking system (not just 'like', but several aspects ranging from how well designed it is or how creative, to how well the owner throws a party...)
    • On that note, the ability for owners to create a 'tour' of their home, sort of like a trail quest

I'm going to stop there...I really could go on for a bit. I am a housing fiend. Truly, my life outside the game would cease to exist should ESO implement decent housing that meshed well with the rest of the game.

The house should always represent how far my character is in the game. A new character should first need to gain respect to be gifted a piece of land. There said character could start building his house, a garden, a cellar and much more. All of this however would need to be unlocked by playing the game.

To have a garden someone must meet a farmer to learn the basics, to implement a crafting table someone would need to gather materials from a hidden cave, chop enough wood, find someone who builds it ...

A housing system should not just be a system that you can buy, it must have a real purpose, resembling where you are in your characters story.

On that note. I'd like to be able to build pools!

Accompanying that, an update where we can dive underwater with sunken treasure and thinks. Please ZOS. I want my Argonian water breathing.

While its not logical for every player to have their own house perhaps the WoW method makes best sense but with tweaks for TESO.

This would need to be instances and work within what exists today.

Maybe the Oblivion and or Skyrim ideas should apply somehow too.

It's really hard to do this in an MMO considering the prior successful attempts were in a single player game for TES.
I'd rather this happen in 2017 or so as there are many other pressing concerns as of current but the housing will prob be a crown store driven experience plus crafting

A huge reason I left WoW is because of garrisons. No need to enumerate the issues surrounding Blizzard's take on player housing here...just Google it. Please, don't go down that path.

I enjoyed Lord of the Rings Online's housing system. The devs could have allowed for more customization I suppose, but from my perspective, it was well done.

I would not want the type of housing that other places can use the same home as yours (instances) I would like something fun. I mean lets say there is just one house in windhelm players can buy,That would suck becouse every player would live on that house and it wouldnt feel any unique at all or feel like you own it.

Well technically it wouldn't be the same if we redecorate it. :dizzy:

But yeah, let's do a Rift style thing where we can get keys to houses on islands or something.

I WANT instanced housing in the towns... one door we all use but inside is our own.

Then I eventually want instanced plots of land around Tamriel where we can build our own house from pretty much scratch.

I certainly like the idea of an actual house, instanced or otherwise. How you would show off such a house to your friends if it was instanced eludes me. It would also be difficult to have a vendor on your property to sell your wares if nobody could get into your instance...

I understand DAoC's model of a housing zone left much to be desired and left many without homes in the end due to scarcity of properties that could be purchased, but it is the closest thing to an instanced housing zone that I can think of.

Addressed houses and when we knock on the door we choose the name of the player's house we were looking for.

I live at 4969 Kings Way. Knock and ask for Mr Bigglesworth.

We will need shelves for our trophies we've earned along the way as well.

Look at the housing in Everquest. Take that in mind.

Oh and I demand a dog house. (goat hut)

before housing i want them to complete spellcrafting.

but more in line with the topic. i want something simular to what rift does, but TES style. to get a house, you must bargain with the daedric prince of your choice, this decides the basic foliage, after that, there should be a myriad of choices, building them yourself or otherwise, with a very very loose placing method. i mean i want it really good, like i choose where the forks sit on the table, or stabbed into the table if i choose.

well there is a bit to this and several different options and probably not going to happen or able to happen but here goes my thoughts/wishes.

Guilds able to purchase large plots of land that guild members can then purchase from guild itself or from in game purchase from their guilds area of land. With this would go with idea of guild being able to setup their own "small towns". If we could do this have npc people walking around say guards in your guilds tabard walking around. Able to build a guild keep etc, etc. Heck I wouldn't mind paying a monthly fee on top of my sub for something like this.

Now with or without the "guild town" idea I would like player housing to be able to setup the outside of the house way you'd like to and ability to purchase "yard" space around your home that you can then farm crafting nodes from say each plot gives you a certain amount of farming nodes that regenerate maybe twice a day or something or just once a day.
Having your plot of land reflect the area you purchase in so say you purchase in forest the surrounding area is forested, stream etc. Or you purchase beach front property that well reflects that.

I'd also like to be able to see housing pertain to race design or at least cottages wood as well as stone, housing in trees or built into tree.

One of the biggest things for myself is interactive furniture! if you put in a chair you can sit in it.

It'd be nice to purchase not just housing but say a smithy with all that goes with it, something that you can place your crafted items in and people can pop in and purchase from. Or perhaps you want to create your very own Inn or pub being able to create that with cooking fires and people being able to sit at tables and in chairs.
